Questions & Answers
It isn't necessary to mirror the image. The image is laser-etched onto the film, and it is this image that is shown. The decals are lifted from the paper by a thin film of water. When you apply the decal to the item, it will slide around until you pat it down into place. No glue. Allow to dry completely before applying a medium-appropriate topcoat. The decals aren't particularly durable on their own.
This paper works perfectly with my Brother L8900 color laser printer. I even use the paper tray as a source of power. Note: You must print on plain paper and, to be safe, do not attempt to run it after the printer has been used for a while, as the heat in the machine can build up. I'm almost ready to buy more. Love it.
There are two types of paper for two types of printers: laser printer paper and inkjet printer paper. Make sure you order the correct paper for your printer when you place your order.
Both Ink Jet and Laser decal paper are available. I wouldn't put them together.
Selected User Reviews For Waterslide decal paper laser CLEAR 10 Sheets Package 8.5 X 11 Inches
Because this paper is slightly larger than standard size, it took three attempts to get it to work in my laser printer. After two failed attempts (thankfully no paper was ruined because it literally wouldn't run through my machine), the problem was identified: The paper is 1/8th of an inch too wide, not a significant enough difference to notice immediately, but significant enough to prevent printing. Fortunately, I have a paper cutter, so I was able to neatly trim the excess and print. I was very pleased with the results once the print was completed and a test transfer was completed; the decals slide off the backing easily, are genuinely clear, and hold up well.
I print my custom black and white decals on this decal paper with my HP Laser Jet printer. The image is sharply printed on the paper, and it holds up well. I simply spray or brush a coat of Liquid Decal over the completed print, resulting in a sharp, very stable decal that adheres well to a clean flat surface.
You can make great custom decals with this paper! It takes a little practice and a good vector-drawing program to get it right. The results are excellent, despite the fact that the program is computer-based. To seal in the ink after it has dried on the paper, you'll need a can of Krylon Crystal Clear acrylic spray, as well as a lot of MicroScale Micro Set and Micro Sol to get them to lay down and conform to the surface.
I was unable to use this product. The printer I use is an HP Officejet 6500A Plus. Waterslide Paper was used to print a few items. Allow it to dry completely before dipping it in water, where the ink was absorbed by the water. I tried it again, this time spraying the printed Waterslide Paper with clear acrylic vanish paint, which altered the colors I'd printed.
The instructions that come with the package are easy to understand. To get a perfect Laserjet print, take them to your local print shop. Inkjet printers will not work because the ink will wash away from the paper when submerged in water. It's easy to use and it's a good deal. I'll buy it again if I need it.
Water slide decals for a model were made with this paper. It was extremely simple to operate, and the print quality was excellent. Also, the paper is of excellent quality. It's not at all flimsy, and there's no need for a sealer.
This is a fantastic paper! It's what I use to personalize my hand-turned pens with logos. If you want good adhesion, use Micro Set.
