bought these to make my work life easier as I scroll down charts and graphs a lot and need a nice heavy ruler to help me maintain my place. Having purchased two sets, one for work and one for home, I'm very pleased with the quality. The black on top of whatever I am reading contrasts beautifully with whatever I am reading underneath. These triangles are solid and steady on the page, and the feel of them is solid and substantial as well. My purchase was not intended to be used for their intended purpose- As long as I had a weighted straight edge, I was fine. I couldn't give a damn about the measurement aspect of these. It is a product I would buy.
Although I don't carry these rulers very often, most of the time everything gets done on computers these days, but every now and then I take them to the meetings on the job site in case someone needs a quick look at the blueprints on the this purpose, pouches included with the bag are very useful. In addition, the instruments appear to be very well made, with solid aluminum and rounded corners that allow them to have pinpoint accuracy. This product looks very durable, and I expect it to last me a lifetime with my usage.
As a construction estimator, I can get blueprints measured with ease with this set. There is a slight difference in size between scale rulers and conventional rulers, but if you're going to be using them all day, that's not going to matter. It is true that these numbers are laser etched and should last for a long time. Another tool that I found very useful was the Stainless Steel ruler. I drooled over these blackscales when I revealed them to the other estimators! You shouldn't hesitate to invest in them.
The work I do as an interior designer involves reading scaled drawings all day. My old scale was worn out and I needed a new one. These are perfect! The fact that they are metal is awesome.
