Questions & Answers

Is it possible to use a dip pen to write calligraphy with this?

Ink for fountain pens is called fountain pen ink. Shellac makes calligraphy ink thicker, because it is made up of oil, rather than water. While you can test FP ink with a dip pen without causing it any harm, you must never use calligraphy ink with

Can you describe the color of Scabiosa when it's dried? As seen in the top picture, there is a gradient that varies from almost black to dark purple, but according to the color chart it ?

I'm doing well! true color of the ink matches the color chart exactly across the board. I prefer to use flexy fountain pens and dip pens with mine, and it has a lovely, rich lavender color where the ink goes on lightly. However, when I use it with my glass pens or a simple stiff fountain pen, I see fairly dark colors A COLOR other than This ink has a particular shimmer/sheen that stands out among the rest of the assortment. When the ink is applied heavy and dries, it has a beautiful sheen. It's an ink that looks and feels nice. Research & Development My favorites are from K, and I would have used them even at three times the price. I hope this I'm looking forward to reading your work!

It is a great ink
5/5

I am very pleased with it. tried a lot of inks and pens, but this one quickly became my favorite. I have a pen with an heirloom nib (from a pen I salvaged that reached the end of its useful life) and it works beautifully with this ink. I like this ink because it has the benefit of being the ONLY one I can use on cheap paper out of all of the inks I own (as of right now, I have 21 inks at my disposal). I can use it on cheap legal pads, mini legal pads, various note pads, standard spiral bound/ring filler paper, Moleskine notebooks, TOPS business notebooks (neither of these products are fountain pen friendly), any paper. The output is as good on cheap paper as it is on Rhodia or Clairfontaine. (NOTE! Any ink or printing material will soak through any paper if it is excessively wet when you write. Therefore, I advise you to use this ink on cheap Fine nibs are preferred by a lot of people since they do not lay down as much ink, and they do not feather or bleed quite as much as medium or broad nibs. If you like medium, italic, flex and stub nibs, that's what you should look for. I can write on cheap paper without bleeding through when I have a properly functioning pen and this ink. quickly dries. There is no need to blot this ink, no matter what type of paper I'm using. Ink has already dried by the time I could reach for a blotter and bring it to bear on the page. In spite of the fact that the drying time is in the single digit seconds I haven't noticed that the ink dries out when I remember to cap the pen after I'm finished writing, so it seems to last a long time. I trained myself several years ago to hold pens uncapped when I pick them up and cap them right before I lay them down, having forgotten to do that or putting down an uncapped pen and then getting distracted and having to clean out the pen so it will work again. I like the color. It goes down a deep, vivid blue, but since it's iron gall ink, it oxidizes and becomes something else when it dries A grayish tone. In pen enthusiasts' language, "very dusty" describes the characteristics of the line when it has dried. By using the right nib, I am able to achieve very nice shading and line variation without being overly I found this shade to be perfect for formal writing. There will be no wrong impression given. When dried, it has a tasteful shade that is neither frivolous, flaky, fruity nor fluttery. Because I use it for everything from just writing to formal purposes, I don't only save it for formal use. A closer look at this ink shows that it most definitely says, "I'm fountain pen ink and I've been placed here by a fountain pen!". The ink I have purchased is waterproof to the point that it trumps all other inks that I have There are a few Noodler's Bullet-proof books that I use An ink that is as water-repellent as possible As fast as this Salix ink is, those inks have also been known to penetrate paper like crazy (it's supposed to be like that, after all), so I only use them for signatures and applications where their "bullet" characteristics actually benefit me. An advantage of proof is that it provides evidence. Ink from Salix has never clogged my pens or stain them, so I have never had any issues with it. This ink has not displayed any signs of corrosion in any pen that has been used with it. As I am using the ink through a mixture of precious metal (gold) nibs that are naturally resistant to clogging and corrosion, and super cheap steel nibs, I have no restrictions on what I can use. My pens have not shown any signs of damage under high magnification, but I have seen no evidence that the ink is damaging. Here is a few words about the Iron Gall Bugaboo This ink has a very old history, it's been around for a long time. Iron gall ink has become the subject of many urban legends, legends, and old wives' tales. Insect galls are located on tree branches, so you can make your own iron gall ink if you wish. In fact, the "gall" in "iron gall" actually comes from here as well. A scribe made iron gall ink using that traditional method in ancient times. In order to achieve that, one needs an alkali strong enough Incorrect, I should have said acid not alkali), which is where the "cautions" and "conventional wisdom" about nib or pen component rust come The Rohrer & Rohrer law firm There is no difference between Salix and Scabiosa formulations from Klingner. This means they can harm your pen in no more and no less ways. Edit (RE Below I discuss the difference between corrosion and corrosion resistance with my friend "Jesse". 1) I have left inks in pens that I no longer use and when I looked at them again ink had dried up in the converter. After flushing the pens with water properly, I examined them with a magnifying glass. Any rust or reaction that could have caused damage was not present. No different than dealing with any other dried ink pigment, the dried pigment was not difficult to deal with. This is abuse of the pen if you let a full load of ink dry in it. A pen would probably need decades or even centuries of exposure to this ink to corrode to the point that damage occurs. Modern pens do not show noticeable wear over time in any way that I can detect. But the cost is quite reasonable it's cheaper than most other inks I have. With a free shipping deal and a cost of around nine bucks, this ink is a very good value. I haven't been desperate for a bottle when the price is at the higher end of its range because the price fluctuates. My personal preference is to buy it from the Goulets, who I have found to be wonderful people, if the cost is the same on Amazon as it is at Gouletpens dot com. One of the few drawbacks I have found to date with this ink is the fact that it takes a long time to get to my desk from Germany. As long as I order another bottle when it gets to about half full, I'm fine with that. As iron gall ink, the bottle is naturally darkly tinted to protect the ink from being ruined by It is hard to see how much ink there is left in the bottle since it is opaque, but you can see the ink level when you refill the By my reckoning, these are very minor things, but I mention them In addition to being easy to clean up, this ink performs very well. It happens every now and then when I'm filling up a pen that I get ink where I don't want it. The ink that I have filled with it does not stain the converter barrel in any pens that I have filled with it with, and it does not mess up my fingers, desk, etc. This ink cleans up just as well as any other ink I own. When I flush this ink out of a pen to prepare it for a different ink, I have not had as much trouble as when I flush any other good quality ink out of the pen. It is very waterproof on paper, but can be scrubbed away with soap, water, and a vigorous brush after just a few minutes. The way I live my life is like this I love this ink, the most favorite of You can use it for any purpose. In any case, the inks I've used or have had before did not replace the ones I've used. I appreciate that this ink gives me a very nice, mature looking ink that I can use anywhere and on any paper at any time under any conditions, and it does all that at an amazingly competitive price. I feel that's pretty strong for any kind of ink.

If you bought this ink, you are not just a color connoisseur but also a connoisseur of colors in general. My pens are inked with about forty different colors, and I never get bored of them. It is possible that there would be more happiness if we all bought ink. The colors make the paper look stately, majestic, and unique. Furthermore, the back of the paper is not washed out by the color. This film holds its own nicely in a slightly understated, but elegant manner. This is a highly recommended read. The perfect way to note something or write a letter. You can express your love for someone or show appreciation for what they do with a color that never grows on trees, but shouldn't be so rare.

The water is fast and well-contained They behaved well That is one of my favorite books
5/5

While I don't really have anything with which to compare it, this ink has quite a nice smell.

At first, it appears to be light on the page, but after a couple minutes on the page, it seems to darken a little, and it will appear differently on different papers. Find out more about iron by going to the internet On Wikipedia, you can find out more about gall inks. This is fascinating. They remain on the page in their permanent form due to their reaction with air, and this type of ink is still used in some countries for official documents, registration, Apparently it is also slightly acidic, but I am not sure what effect that will have on my pen or This is not something I worry about too much.
It was shipped from Germany to me. The ink has been on me for three months, and I've grown to like it quite a bit. Upon being exposed to water, the material becomes nearly waterproof in a short time. In comparison with some Waterman black ink I own, which leaves a mark right off the page when wet, the Salix ink barely smudges with a wet finger, however, and remains extremely A wet, fine nib like my own, or a wet, low flow ink like these works particularly well with this ink.

The ink is water resistant and looks beautiful
5/5

Iron gall ink of this caliber is incredible. As the paint dries, it turns into a deeper blue You can choose from black or midnight blue and it is waterproof. There is an incredible amount of texture, richness, and smoothness to the product. This ink, being an iron gall ink, should be handled with care and avoided spilling on clothing and fountain pens, and should be cleaned regularly as this ink can jam the nib and is slightly corrosive. But is not a major It takes a long time to dry especially when the line is thick, or when you do a third pass. Overall, this is an outstanding ink that is priced well below other iron gall inks that do not perform as well.
