What can you say about a calculator that isn't true? It's either a good thing or a bad thing. made and well-crafted It's either designed or it's not. br>br>This one, without a doubt, is. It has a large number of keys that all work smoothly and perfectly, as well as a large number of calculating options. It is a true business calculator, even if it lacks many of the features found in dedicated (and more complicated) true business calculators. It is, without a doubt, a fantastic all-arounder. Calculator for specific purposes. br>br>It comes with a comprehensive instruction manual that goes over (and illustrates) everything this calculator can do. br>br>The manual is truly comprehensive, and anyone who reads it (which doesn't take long) will have a thorough understanding of how to operate and maintain this calculator. It's a solar calculator with a replaceable backup battery (which will power the calculator in extremely low light (but who can read a calculator in extremely low light?). I can't! It has an excellent display. br>br> The numbers and other indicators are large and legible. Obviously, I am very pleased with this calculator. br>br> br>br>And, despite the fact that I am giving it 5 stars (which it certainly deserves), I am unable to recommend it at this time. Why not? br>br> Because Amazon currently does not have a product page for it, I have no idea how much it will cost (I got mine "for free" from Amazon Vine) or whether it will be good value for money. br>br>Should Amazon ever create a product page for this item (and if the price requested is reasonable), I will undoubtedly recommend it. This Amazon Basics LCD 8 Digit Desktop Calculator is powered by solar power and a single battery (LR1130). My calculator already had the battery installed, and it has an auto shut-off feature that turns it off after about 5 minutes of inactivity. Time limit: ten minutes Each function key is described and examples are provided in an easy-to-understand manual. It also includes instructions on how to replace the battery. (Photos are available. ) br>br>This is a small calculator that feels like plastic but appears to be reasonably sturdy, though it could crack if dropped. It's a simple and straightforward calculator, but I'm not a numbers person, so it's exactly what I needed for its ease of use and large numbers on the display, large white numbers on the buttons, and large tactile buttons that I find easy to use when working on projects like my own tax preparation. br>br>My Apple device calculators are handy when I need to do a quick calculation, but I make more errors on longer calculations with more entries. With its larger buttons and easier-to-read display and number keys, the Amazon Basics calculator is a better fit for me. The screen is easy to see because it is tilted upward at a good angle (tilt is not adjustable) and I don't have to lift it up to see the display (which is not backlit). There are times when using a desktop calculator rather than the calculator on my phone or laptop is simply more convenient. It was time to replace my other calculator, which had been around for a long time. The LCD 8-inch display from AmazonBasics was what I was looking for. Apart from being newer, I chose the Digit Desktop Calculator (Silver) as a replacement, and it has proven to be superior to my old one. br>br>It has all of the basic functions that you'd expect from a calculator of this type. The solar battery performs as well as I had anticipated. This calculator appeals to me because the LCD screen is larger and the numbers are larger, making it easier to read for me. I've taken it outside a few times and found it to be readable in bright light. Squinting at the screen is not something I do. I'm also making fewer mistakes because the keys are a little bigger. The keys are responsive and there are no sticking issues. br>br>The only minor issue I've had with this calculator is that, while it accepts key entries reliably when placed on a flat surface, it doesn't perform as well when held in my hand; it performs better when the entire calculator is supported. br>br>However, I am generally pleased with this calculator.
