The drawer is a nice feature to have and is ideal for storing pens or similar items of that size; however, the only thing you can adjust is the top; you cannot raise the unit as a whole by raising the legs, which is disappointing.
If the legs on this item could be adjusted so that it could be taller while working in bed, it would be ideal.
1. I adore the fact that there are so many different options. This laptop/tablet has a level tilting feature. You have the option of angling to your liking.
2. I didn't realize I needed the separate space with the mousepad until it was too late. This doesn't tilt, but I'd never use it in that position in the first place.
3. There is also a slot for your phone, which is a nice touch.
4. PLUS, under the mousepad side of the tray, there's a small storage area! br>br>Had the legs been adjustable, I would have kept this item and been extremely pleased. br>However, because I am nearly 6' tall and wear a runner, the table sits on my legs when I am in bed with it open. br>The tilting support bar is in the middle of the tray, and when I adjust my position, I keep bumping my knee against it and the storage area. br>br>I would buy a version with adjustable legs so that the tray could be positioned higher if the manufacturer makes one. Taller people will find this one to be too short.
The only flaw is that the legs don't lock in place when you open them, so if you have to move the desk down your legs or to the side to leave where you were sitting, the legs want to fold back in (meaning the laptop slides, and please don't have an open drink on the mouse pad section). That could be a real pain in the neck! Fortunately, because I'm prone to mishaps, all of my liquids have spill-proof caps. ).
It's completely changed my life. I use it from bed early in the morning before going to work to late at night. It's well-made and sturdy. I used to use a flat lap desk, which is still great and portable to carry in my work bag or on the go, but this one is much more comfortable due to the height. I appreciate how convenient it is to have my phone visible next to my laptop, as well as the added benefit of the charging cord fitting perfectly through the opening underneath. I don't use the tilting option on my desk, but my daughter does when she draws on her tablet, and she enjoys it. I'll be on the lookout for another to give to my mother as a present.
br>br>That's a lot of context to say I bought one that looked decent because it seemed like a good idea. I hadn't expected a 10/10 after reading reviews saying they weren't sturdy, poorly made, etc. , but the construction is really sturdy, the color is nice, the phone holder has a way for your charger to pull through to keep things neat, and overall the detail in this piece makes it really worthwhile; it fits my Surface Laptop 3 perfectly, and I couldn't be happier. It even collapses to a manageable size! br>br>It's a lot more comfortable in all positions than I expected, and I'm sure I'll use it a lot. Ideal for use on the bed, couch, or even the floor! Exceptionally high and simple to use, with no finicky buttons or pull levers to get in the way. Simply pop open and go! Fits my laptop perfectly, and I love the new car smell, which reminds me of standing in Home Depot's fresh cut wood section. I'll be buying another for my cousin, and most likely one for my mother! This is a fantastic game for the whole family to enjoy!.
The only reason it isn't five stars is because I set it up, turned away for five seconds, and heard the entire desk (along with my $1700 laptop) crash to the hard floor, which COULD have been my fault but I don't believe it was. However, both the laptop and the desk are in perfect working order; the desk shows no signs of wear from the fall, and all of the moving parts function as they did before. It's extremely durable; a lesser product would have snapped or at the very least had a few cracks.
I bought this "bed tray" to use as a standing desk for my laptop, which I keep on the kitchen counter or table. So, on days when I work from home, I can easily switch to a standing desk. I didn't want anything bulky that would be in the way all of the time, so this is ideal: it's the right weight and size, and it folds up easily so it can be slid out of the way (and out of sight) when not in use. Perfect for a "stand-up desk" for your laptop, with space for a mouse and a place to keep your phone close at hand if needed.
