The chair is rated at over 200 pounds so I think that's as much as it can handle. My husband is over 200 pounds. He can easily stand on the mat, and the pile of the carpet is In addition, it does not seem unstable or shift. On top of the carpet, the plastic is solid and firm, as if it is a hard floor.

When I was notified that you had a question, the seller had already replied. I have had good experiences with this mat thus far. It is very sturdy for a mat, so I do not think it can break. I removed one corner of the mat from the package and my dog chewed on it, but he was having trouble breaking the mat, but once I got the mat away from him and laid it out, it was hard to move, and he went back to chewing on simply don't know of any manufacturer who would cover pet damage under their warranty (such a scenario wouldn't be standard).
My mat has been using it for about ten months and already breaking down, I can't say whether that is typical for this type of product. I weigh 235 pounds and use it daily on a berber carpet up to 10 hours per day. The overall impression I have is one of disappointment.

The mat we purchased from Amazon has a high rating, so we chose to buy it. A big flat cardboard box with this mat arrived at our doorstep. It has zero chemical smell, and it stays put, the carpet fibers are 1/2 inch thick, so this mat does not slide or move at all on our new carpet. Even when we sit in our desk chair which is pretty heavy, neither the wheels of my chair nor this mat leave any dents, not even the smallest ones. This is a very fragile product that cannot withstand the elements.
