LOUD and CRYSTAL CLEAR It is also enjoyable to listen to music
5/5

With just this one item inside, the Amazon shipping box was heavier than expected. The reason for this became clear after I unboxed the speaker phone. This speaker phone is much more substantial than my previous one, as it is built like a tank and feels extremely durable. br>br>First, allow me to clear up a misunderstanding about what other reviews might imply. Some claim there is no indication that AI is active when using AI recording. However, there is a round light that surrounds the phone's functions, which is GREEN when AI is active and BLUE when AI is inactive. That's how you'll know if AI is active or not. I can confirm that when AI is turned on, the volume of keyboard activity is reduced, as I tested it with my keyboard only 12 inches away from the device (and I was pounding the keys hard to make noise). br>br>I'm using a Windows 10 PC to test this. br>br>I couldn't believe how quickly the device connected to my PC when I used the BRAIDED cable (USB C on the speaker phone side for easy plugging in, and type A into my computer). Definitely less than 2 seconds, possibly even less than 1. It was not necessary to configure anything. It automatically became my default speaker and recorder. br>br>The loudness of this speaker phone is one of its best features. I compared it to three other speakers on my computer: My monitor's speakers, a second speaker phone, and now this M2 MAX I set all of them to play the same song at 25 the same time. My other speaker phone sounded great (an eMeet Luna), but when this MAX came on, it blew the others out of the water; the monitor speakers were way too soft and tinny sounding (not fun to listen to for music), as one would expect; my other speaker phone sounded great (an eMeet Luna), but when this MAX came on, it blew the others out of the water; a lot of noise I lowered the volume to 2010% from 25% and it was still a little louder than the other speaker phone! And there was no distortion on either speaker phone. I raised the MAX to 100%, and there was still no distortion (though I had to turn it down because it was too loud ). br>br>Both the MAX and the Luna were pleasant and COMFORTABLE to listen to when playing music; My monitor speakers, on the other hand, are a different story. eMeet speakers are excellent in terms of sound quality. The voice is sharp and clear, and it is easy to understand; it is not garbled or muffled in any way. br>br>If you're a company, the M2 MAX is the way to go. Simply because of the superior volume, I switched to a speaker phone. It's pointless to make meeting attendees strain to hear what's coming from the device or ask the speaker to repeat themselves. br>br>As an aside, when I changed the volume on my keyboard, the MAX's light went up and down to reflect the changes - neat; demonstrates the interconnection br>br>Then I tried out the recording feature by walking around my room while the PC recorded everything I said. When I played back my recording, the MAX did a good job of picking up my voice from a distance of 15 to 16 feet away, even with my back turned and a hoodie on my head (of course, the mics pick up your voice louder if you are closer, but it was still decent from 15 feet - I took accurate measurements). To summarize, this is a high-quality speaker phone that I enjoy using.

Modern design, but detachable "spider mics" could be used to assist with softer or farther away speakers
4/5

I actually like this unit a lot, despite the fact that it has a couple of flaws. It's not a phone, but it can be used to extend the functionality of a smartphone via Bluetooth. The design is sleek and contemporary, with flat touch controls and audio/light cues to confirm button selections. It even has a moving light that indicates the source direction of microphones detected during a face-to-face meeting. And the unit does a fantastic job of retaining its power. It's not small, but neither is it large or bulky; it's about the size and diameter of a standard Frisbee, and it stands about 2 inches tall. And while Bluetooth is simple to set up, I believe the instructions for using it could be much clearer. The speaker, on the other hand, is very clear and natural / pleasing sounding when delivering callers' voices to face-to-face meeting members. For comparison, I purchased two other units from different companies, and this one from eMeet is the best I could find. I have a few issues with it, which I will list below. br>br>The way I use it is that I pair it with my phone and then call into a conference line with that same phone, which is how any conference line callers are heard in our face-to-face meeting, because my phone's speaker and microphone functions are switched from my phone to this unit. br>br>My main gripe is that when I use it for a smallish (10-person) group, it doesn't seem to work. Anyone sitting 5 or 6 feet away from the unit, and/or who, let's say, has a soft or not loud voice, can make it difficult for callers in to understand what is being said. I discovered that placing it on a large table allows me to get as close to the chest or face of the face-to-face member speaking as possible, as well as allowing the voices of those in the face-to-face meeting to bounce off the table on their way to the four microphones built into the design shell. br>br>My solution for soft voices would be for the manufacturers to have a couple of spider mics permanently connected by high-quality wire that could extend from the base in two directions, say for about 4 feet? Or something along those lines, with 3 and 6 foot lengths of extension. However, make them permanent, or at the very least easily clippable to the sides of the main unit for compact storage. Because a single center-of-meeting-table microphone or microphones will have a hard time picking up soft, low, or distant speakers. br>br>In addition, there is no carrying case included with this unit. This unit, like others, is designed to be portable and charged ahead of time, implying that it will be carried somewhere by someone, but no carrying case is provided. I would have bought it even if it had been an independent purchase. I ended up buying a small pocket fabric case with some soft material inside, one that is meant for a tablet, and sizing and pricing it. It turned out to be "ok," but it wasn't designed specifically for this item, so while it is protective, it isn't as good as a manufacturer making a custom application to their unit type effort. This speakerphone unit is approximately 7 to 8 inches wide, so it should fit comfortably. There's also a light that blinks when charging and then turns solid, but I think the light going out would be a better indicator that it's fully charged. br>br>Overall, I think the quality and ease of use are excellent. I just wish the soft voice issue had been given more thought and solved, as I suggested, with mics placed a few feet from the base for better voice pickup of those in the face-to-face/unit room. We literally pass the unit around the table to ensure that callers in hear our voices, but this is precisely the type of fussy overcontrol that ruins the whole interaction on some levels, as the moderator and some face-to-face meeting members become preoccupied with where the unit is rather than what they are sharing or what the meeting / interaction is all about. Finally, I have some thoughts on price that I will express in a moment, but I still like the unit and it is very easy to charge and use, and it is far superior to other voices heard on the unit's speaker. When it comes to callers having difficulty hearing face-to-face members, instructing people in the face-to-face room to speak up can help a lot. Regardless of the less-than-ideal results described here, I would strongly recommend it to a friend. br>br>Now, about price: the price of over $325 was a bit much for some of the missing pieces I experienced, and the price went up after I bought it, so a high dollar is not the end of the world if the product is truly tested and solves all of the issues I mention here, but with some overlooked quality issues, I and I believe others will find the investment to be a little steep. I believe that some people may be tempted to simply pass around their cell phones in a meeting because most modern phones have excellent microphones and speakers, and this option would cost next to nothing for those who already own phones. However, asking a group of people to pay $350 is a tall order. I believe that spending $400 and then having some legitimate drawbacks is something that some people will not appreciate. br>br>However, I believe that if they added the option of extra extendable mics, improved the directions and allowed those directions to be downloaded in advance of a sale, made a good carrying case available or included in the price, and kept the price competitive, they could sell a lot more of these because I believe there is a market for such devices now more than ever.

Expensive in comparison to the quality of the performance
3/5

It's difficult to find a good speakerphone for the price, and I was hoping this would be one of the best; it's certainly better than the cheaper options, but the sound quality is fairly poor. The VoiceAI feature blocks out background noise like typing, fans, yard work, and so on, but it can make your voice sound a little processed to other callers at higher volumes. You can have this connected to your phone via Bluetooth and to your PC via USB as a sound device at the same time, which allows me to take online meetings on the computer while also taking phone calls from my cell phone without having to switch modes or connect/disconnect anything. The microphones are sensitive and pick up every little sound in the room, but other callers have commented that I sound distant or like I'm in a tunnel when I speak. I had hoped for a boomerang-like performance. I also contacted eMeet support via e-mail because this device falls short of the style of Polycom conference room speakerphones. Use the 3. to send an email about a problem. I tried to use a 5mm TRRS jack to connect to the headphone jack on my phone, but I never received a response. Surprisingly, the speakerphone's packaging was nearly as heavy as the device itself.
