The home store ran out of small spools of 18/5 thermostat wire, so I used two runs of 18/2 thermostat wire. 25 feet was the distance between the two. (1 km 50 There was enough wire for both runs) and it all worked. Getting a spool of 18/5 wire so I only have to pull one wire for a second intercom I bought for my daughter's house turned out to be a big mistake! Even so, I still connected it to the existing doorbell wire near the transformer, but I tried to keep the voice wire at least two inches from the power wire for as long Here we go!
