The scanner did not come with setup instructions or a copy of the manual. In the ADF it appeared a document was being drawn, but once it reached the tray it returned an error message of an erroneous jamb. In trying to flatbed scan a document, our scanner locked up 1/2 inch into the scanning process. No solutions were found after exhausting all HP trouble shooting methods. I contacted HP, and they told me to return the product. I'm not sure whether my undying loyalty to HP is a good idea anymore.
It did not occur to me that these scanners were incompatible Flatbed scanners are also quite large and bulky at the same time, taking up a lot of counter We returned them for credit since they didn't meet our requirements.
As part of our archives preservation program, we are using a great product. You will be able to access historic documents using this method.
The entire situation has been disastrous. Sometimes I am able to scan a few hundred pages before I run into problems, sometimes it is the very first piece of paper that causes a problem. As often as not, even when I am able to begin scanning documents, the ADF jams on the third sheet of paper. Usually, the jam occurs on the very first piece of paper in the stack. I sometimes can nudge the paper through the feeder and make it start. A number of HP attempts have been made In my opinion, february is a good month to do this It is essential for the situation to be resolved. ADFs replaced by them were no better than the originals. There is obviously a design issue here. If you do not have a large number of pages to scan every day, it might be fine. However, if you do have a larger quantity, this unit might not do the trick. There is no point in spending time, money and effort on it.
I have been very satisfied with the performance of this scanner. It clearly meets every need I had. While there are a couple of glitches in the software, after using it for a while, I've adjusted to it and can now use it effectively. In addition to the high image quality, I also love the handy document feeder. I picked this scanner primarily because of these factors. My only suggestion to improve it would be to make it a bit easier to operate regarding the buttons on the front that do not explain their function, and the manual doesn't provide any It was my responsibility to figure everything out on my own by looking through the software. The users were disappointed with their product and left scratching their heads because they COULD have made this into a great machine.
Please use caution if you are trying to scan to PDF with this method. PaperPort software is especially helpful in this case. Whenever you open the pdf files, you will notice that they contain a document watermark You're going to have to be very, very lucky to get I have tried the ScanSoft support, but it didn't work While they know there is a problem, their 'fix' does not work and people having a problem have to pay $40 I have not figured out how to do this. Additionally, once the pages start going through, they scan at a pace of 25 pages per minute Even if you do not use the energy saving mode, it takes long to begin (that is regardless of whether you use energy saving.
There are not many of these scanners in our office. There are a number of them that are persistently jamming, and we have to replace the feeders on several Because these scanners are so cheaply made, I do not recommend them. In our experience, Canon scanners perform better than other brands.
I bought the hp Scanjet 8270 Document Flatbed Scanner for our library a little over a year ago and it worked just fine until a day or two after I installed it There was a one-year warranty on the product. After generating an illegible image, the device started making a whirring sound. As we have been told by HP, they do not sell parts or repair scanners because they are manufactured in an environment that does not produce dust. For the scanner, we spent about $900. It has been impossible to find a reliable independent repair company for the HP scanner, so it has proven to be inefficient to repair it, making the price of the scanner inaccessible. Considering the no-repair feature, I would not recommend this scanner.
