We recently purchased a salon that had an old, traditional cc machine that used an ethernet cable, so I simply switched the cable from the old machine to the USB hub, then the USB output cable to the Square terminal, and it was up and running in a minute or two after going through the setup procedure. If you have problems with pci compliance, this is a better option than using WiFi.
Yes, I charge my Square in this manner all of the time, but the Halo is there as a backup. I usually charge my Square completely before going to my event!
A standard "HK Systems" locking cash drawer is in use.

Because my business travels and a phone line isn't always available for my Verifone machines, I have both a traditional merchant account with a large bank and a Square account. My employees had been using Square phone readers (the plug-in kind) on their cell phones when traditional phone lines were unavailable prior to this Square register purchase. It wasn't a big deal, but phone batteries drained quickly from time to time. The Square bluetooth cube is in the same boat: The battery drains much faster, and BT occasionally disconnects when attempting to make a sale. Additionally, some customers were uncomfortable with the lack of a printed receipt or having their card swiped on someone's phone. SO. This terminal is EXTREMELY BEAUTIFUL! It is identical to the Square phone app in terms of functionality and appearance. Because there is no learning curve for employees, they can use the dashboard immediately. It even prints receipts, which is convenient for those who prefer not to have receipts emailed or texted to them. This machine performed admirably right out of the box, and the battery had barely depleted after a full day of use. It's simple to connect to the internet using wi-fi. anywhere with a wi-fi connection My purchase included a power cord and accessories hub, so even if the battery runs out, a quick plug-in will keep you going. If you don't have access to Wi-Fi, the accessory hub lets you connect via ethernet cable. The machine has a substantial weight to it and appears to be sturdily built. I can't think of any negatives; it has wi-fi and USB ports so you can connect other devices, charge phones, and so on. It's incredibly nice, and I'm pleasantly surprised. I thought it was a little pricey, but that could be because it's new and doesn't require your bank to download software like traditional terminals. As a result, it behaves more like a computer than a standard terminal. The printing quality is excellent, and you can personalize your receipts in your Square dashboard. You can also see and print reports from the terminal, as well as any items you've created in your dashboard to keep track of which ones sell the best. Time will tell if it holds up, but it performed admirably on the first day of business, and I am very pleased with my purchase.
Vendors on the move This would be ideal for our food truck. We had an iPad stand, but customers couldn't get to it to sign. All we have to do now is hand it over to them, and voila!.
It has a nice design and is simple to operate. Each use transaction costs a lot of money to them. When out in the field, it is necessary to have a carry case.
For the time being, I'm only using it to process credit cards. What I like best about this machine, however, is how sleek it is and how light it is. hefty, simple to assemble up, and completes a transaction so quickly that the customer is unable to keep up with it. It has a long battery life; we use ours at least 20 times per day on average and only need to re-charge it once. It needs to be charged every 2 days or so. Making a return is very simple, and it doesn't require the card to be present. Simply look for the desired transaction under any specific date, and select the amount you want to refund. Automatically, the cards are saved for later use. I also like that you can look at the sales report at the end of the day and see what your fees will be right there. My ONLY complaint is that the signature screen, even with a compatible stylus I purchased separately, occasionally glitches and sends lines shooting across the screen as a customer signs, which is very annoying. Otherwise, I adore this machine; my customers adore it; my employees adore it; and I'm sure I'll find more ways to take advantage of the unit's other incredible features.
It works well and is a great value for the money, but it keeps disconnecting from the internet.
This device connects to the internet and is ready to use at any time. There will be no more daily pairings of 50! I was able to reduce the amount of time my customers had to wait by half.
I would definitely recommend this device and seller. Thanks.
