This is only a charging dock for the chip/NFC reader, which is not included. Square's website lists this dock for $30 USD.
Yes. There isn't a way to remove the cable.
For craft shows, I've never needed to use a power block. The majority of the children are aged 6 and up. 8 hrs. My phone's battery has lasted long enough for me. The square phone attachment is one of my favorites. I don't use contactless very often, but since the pandemic, I may use it more frequently.
We don't use it very often, but it connects when you turn on the pad, so I assume it's in some sort of sleep mode (it says it connects when the tablet menu is opened).

+1 - br> 1 - Item arrived on time and in good condition. br> 1 - The item was exactly as described. For our requirements, item functions as described were simple to pair and use. br>- The USB cable is permanently attached to the device and can only be removed by cutting it. br>- Mounting your Reader in this way disables the pairing button, which can be inconvenient if it doesn't auto-pair after you go to sleep. br>br>Thoughts: Because not everyone uses these to connect to a register or a Square Stand, it would be nice if the USB connection was either an option or a connection that could be removed and stored if not in use. With the stand out front and a cable leading nowhere, it just looks sloppy. I understand its utility and purpose, but not everyone uses it to access a register. We're on the go, so we need a setup that's both aesthetically pleasing and free of wires. Furthermore, once you've placed your reader in this dock, the pairing button is no longer accessible - Back to being mobile - at least, for the time being. To save energy, we set our devices to sleep. When the device is awakened, this can cause the App and the Reader to disconnect. This means that the Reader must be woken up by pressing the pair button - That is, you must remove the bracket, slide out the reader, press the pair button, and reassemble everything. It would be great if they included a pair button on the Dock itself, so you don't have to do that. It doesn't happen all of the time, but it does, so it's worth mentioning for those who might use it in the same way we do.
The fact that there is always a cord hanging from it irritates me. It shouldn't have a permanently attached cord if I can charge it and process payments remotely. That needs to be taken out. I purchased the docking station so that I could place it on a tabletop instead of leaving the square reader on the counter. It gives it an official appearance until you notice the cord leading nowhere. The cord should be removed because it does not need to be plugged in to function, only to charge.
Square (one flat fee of 2) is a restaurant and a beauty salon that I own. 75%) had helped me with a number of issues. No more chasing down a pen for customers to sign the receipt, no more worrying about missing a tip or doing batching/settlement at the end of the day, and no more keeping rolls of receipts for potential customer dispute/charge back (by the way, the ink on receipts fades after a week anyway, so keeping receipts is completely useless). I used to use Central Payment before I discovered Square, and they charged an all-in fee of around 2. 78% (including statement fees, PCI compliant fees, anti fraud fees, and a slew of other fees. Then I switched to Elavon, which is promoted by Costco, and the price was almost identical at around 2. 75% for everything as well as well as% I became so frustrated that I decided to conduct my own research rather than try something new every time a credit card representative came to my house to pitch "a lower/better rate. " br>Not only did Square solve all of the problems listed above, but it also has the ability to perform full and other comprehensive POS tasks such as time card management for employees, menu design items with pictures, and much more, saving countless hours of monkeying around trying to code or program old clunky POS systems like Sharp POS. to name a few examples! br>Another important point to note is that Square can handle transactions without Internet for up to 72 hours, after which it can be connected to any Wifi and it will sync. Automated batching of all deposits If your Internet is sporadic, unstable, or lacks bandwidth, it simply isn't the case with all other terminals. VRX & When there's a line of impatient customers in front of you trying to pay and get back to work, Elavon m/c will reject the transaction in the middle of it and ask you to reset and cycle through their initial power up programming, which is a major headache!.
It's exactly what I was looking for. After using the chip reader for a while, I decided that the dock would be useful for charging and one-handed operation. One disappointing feature is that when the reader is inserted in the dock, the button to connect to a Bluetooth device is downward, so I had to pull the piece that locks the reader into the dock, then pull the reader to get to the button. It's something that should have been considered when the read or dock were being designed.
The goal is defeated. Examine the power cord; it emerges from the cradle from the same side as the card is inserted into the reader. This fundamental lack of attention to detail irritates me greatly. Call me a snob, but this design has major flaws. The power cord should exit from the back of the device, rather than facing the person inserting the card.
This is charged with a thin, flimsy wire. When I first got it, I noticed this, but I carefully stored it so that it wouldn't be a problem. Unfortunately, the dock fell from a height of less than a foot and landed on the cable, completely severing it (the dock is extremely heavy). It tipped off the side of a small box about 9 inches above the ground. I'm annoyed because there's no way to replace the cable, and the dock's price is far too high to be easily replaced if the cable breaks. For both aesthetic and practical reasons, they must make the cable removable. The Square products themselves are simple to use and perform admirably. I'd expect to be able to purchase a replacement charging cable for something so expensive.
I purchased this for my office because I am a speech-language pathologist in private practice. Some parents prefer Apple Pay, while the rest of the family uses a chip card. It's a long cord. The reader is kept in the holder, but the protective strip at the end is not. Without the strip, the reader is secure, but with Apple's constant updates, you'll want to be able to pull the reader out to reset it every now and then. The swiper that came with my iPhone 7 Plus is still with me - I had to add an adapter to make it work, but this dock is my favorite; it's a great buy and works well for my company.
