I have a nice Royal paper shredder that can crosscut 16 sheets of paper at once, and I try to avoid using oil whenever possible. In my opinion, oil is not required in the cutters themselves. I believe they are merely attempting to profit from the sale of low-cost oil. Canola oil appeals to you for a variety of reasons.

This oil seems to leave a gum-like residue. as if it were residue According to what I've read, it appears to be made up of plain canola oil. Is it preferable to cook with olive oil or soybean oil?

On the other hand, canola ("rapeseed") oil has a long history as a light industrial and machine oil. As a result, its use in this context is not surprising. However, I would not substitute those other oils for olive oil because they could clog the gums even more. If I had to pick, I'd go with a petroleum-based product like 3in1.

Fellowes shredders are fantastic, and I wish I had known about the need for performance oil sooner. If I had known I needed to add the performance oil, my last shredder would have lasted longer. The previous shredder had been in use for ten years, and now a new one has been installed. Definitely a great buy, and I'm hoping it extends the shredder's life. This is a must-have item, and it should be included in the maintenance package. instructions are perplexed as to why this information isn't written down!.

I thought my shredder was about to give up the ghost, so I bought this as a last-ditch effort

I'm glad I did because after a few applications, the shredder is back to its old self. To get to this point, it took at least five shredder fulls. After each filling, I apply a small amount of this oil.
