Aurora AU1415XA 14-Sheet Crosscut Paper/CD and Credit Card Shredder/ 5-Gallon pullout Basket/ 10 Minutes Continuous Run Time

This shredder was purchased in November 2019 and has not worked for the past 5 months. No power. Nothing seems to be working. The money spent was not well spent. I've never seen a shedder pass away so quickly in my life. It's not something I use very often. This was not supposed to happen in the first place.

50/50. So it works great, cuts paper beautifully, has nice wheels, and is simple to empty the trash. However, the on/off switch is a major issue; it's difficult to move and doesn't appear to be very sturdy; I'm afraid it'll break soon. It's good for me because I can fix it if it breaks. They need to design a better switch, and I'm sure everything will be fine after that. Switch design is terrible. If I compare it to other similar products, I believe the price should be around $50. The trash bin isn't all that big because you can't fill it all the way so you only get about 2075% volume so they might as well say it is 3. 5 gallons total.

It easily consumes several sheets of paper. Because this item is not small, you may want to consider a smaller model if you have limited space. It does have swivel wheels, which is useful if you need to tuck it behind something and then pull it out to use it. br>br>The machine has three buttons: ON, REV, and FORWARD. I shredded two large grocery bags of paper the day after I received it, and it didn't overheat. I was probably shredding ten sheets at a time, and it handled them with ease. There was some sluggishness, but there were no paper jams. br>br>It also shredded the credit cards quickly and easily into small pieces that no one could reconstruct. The power button is the only thing that makes me hesitate. When you move it back and forth, it has a slightly cheap feel to it. I'm hoping it'll be able to withstand all of the shredding. br>br>I spent a lot of time looking and researching to make sure I wasn't getting a lemon and that the shredder would meet all of my requirements. There are better shredders out there, but for the price, this is an excellent choice that will more than meet your needs if you do a moderate amount of shredding in your home. br>br>FYI, putting a plastic bag in the basket might be a challenge. When it wasn't full, it kept registering as such. It is, however, very simple to empty. br>br>I haven't oiled the shredder yet, but I did purchase a 16 oz oil, which I understand should be used once a month. I doubt I'll use it more than once or twice a day for a minute or two, so I'm not sure when the first oiling will occur.

I bought this to replace a smaller shredder, and I like how powerful it is. The disadvantage is that the bin pulls forward, creating a mess as the rest of the paper falls down from the shredder. When you've finished, get the broom out. It would be preferable if the shredder simply lifted off the top of the bin, allowing the bin to be emptied.

The best part is the cross cut, and the bin is mobile and easy to open. The only criticism I have is that the shredder is quite large. I have arthritis and live alone, so getting it out of the box was a challenge, but I made it. It could be a little taller, but I was able to get around this by sitting while operating the machine.

As a result, I purchased this shredder for paper shredding. In just four days, I shredded nine trash bags worth of paper. This shredder is fantastic, but I will say that the motor gets hot after an hour of continuous use (duh). Although my boyfriend thought it was "so" obnoxious because I was using it for 2-hours, the noise level is what you'd expect from a shredder. For four nights, I slept a total of ish hours. I like the big container that all the paper shreds into because it saves me time from having to dump the paper and gives me more time to shred for the puppies.

It doesn't have to shred a lot of paper all of the time, but when it does, it has to shred for a long time without overheating or jamming. It had to shred cards and CDs, as well. br>br>However, it's also a shambles. Flying paper is inevitable when using a shredder, and with practice, I'll be able to figure out how to empty the removable bin the most efficiently. The reason I bring this up is that the bin has notches that would allow you to put a trash bag in there, but it's so oddly designed that it's impossible to put a bag in there and have it catch the falling paper. I'm still working on it because it requires a bag size that I don't have. br>br>I didn't include this strange aspect in the rating because it wasn't what I was looking for. It's only shredding paper, but I wanted to mention it because other reviewers mentioned the mess the paper made, and I thought it was strange that anyone would comment on a paper shredder causing a paper mess when emptied; You know, it's all a part of the package. We'll be fine as long as this thing lasts a decade or so; it's made of a sturdy-looking plastic for the base and a light-weight plastic for the bin, making it easy to dispose of.
