I would probably recommend this product as a replacement for a TI-84 As a retired SW engineer (I graduated from college in 1988), I would like to share my experiences
4/5

It has always been my preference to use TI calculators (from my very first TI-83+ The slide rule was replaced with this new instrument). This is the first time I have bought a TI-84 Plus The time has come to buy a new calculator, so I decided to give the calculator Don't miss your chance to try CAS. This is my out-of-work schedule I had a bad experience with the box. It was difficult for me to see (let alone navigate) the screen even when I wore glasses. Despite seriously considering returning the calculator, I decided to run the software that came with it one last time in an attempt to solve the problem. Since I upgraded the calculator, I am much happier with it (especially after setting the font size to the largest). Among the pros This device has an extremely simple user interface (after the firmware update). The TI-84 Plus handheld is much easier to pick up and use than my TI-84 Plus There are many more intuitive features in CAS.
* I love them all. Because I frequently isolate variables and do calculations in MathCAD that I would otherwise need to do manually, this saves me a lot of time when I code software. This makes it more productive for me to have a calculator that can perform this task (and besides, I don't have to deal with the licensing requirements MathCAD imposes). The cons are Designing something that does not work implies the designers are not using it (or that they are 20 years old with excellent vision). I don't have bad eye sight - I can see everything well It's only for reading that I need my glasses, and even with the large fonts, I still have to wear them because the green keys on the keyboard have microscopic characters, and even the "large" fonts are not big The CAS features were used to test out several test functions as I became more familiar with it. Answers to a few of these fringe problems were different than those from the TI-84 Plus Although some of the test tasks returned incorrect answers, most of the ones that did gave correct responses. There is no doubt that this calculator is a lot simpler to use than the previous ones. I will probably be able to replace my old TI-84 calculator with it Even so, it makes me nervous to see how the responses between the NP and N-P differences.

This grade saver can make all the difference
5/5

Throughout most of my highschool years, I managed to get by on my ability to read and write There's an 83 plus calculator to use. My scientific calculator did everything I needed, graphed functions, found sin and cosine, and was more than just a basic tool. This is where Calculus comes in. My purchase of the Ti-78 turned out to be a great decision This was my first time using Nspire CAS, and I was blown away! You can solve derivatives, limits, algebraic functions, statistics, and many more things with it. There is a slight learning curve for the Ti-89, and the only cons are that it can be a little expensive It is recommended that you get a manual and learn the hotkeys for the nspire

If you are in algebra, trigonometry, and especially calculus, I would highly recommend getting this calculator and watching your grades soar.

We left something out
3/5

This calculator was purchased for my son as a replacement for another TI-83+ Earlier this year, Nspire had decided to go on permanent vacation just as its one year warranty ran out. A CAS option was missing from the previous calculator, so this one seemed like a nice improvement. I was interested in purchasing both the touchpad keyboard and the "Dummies" book together because they are items often purchased together on the calculator's page. Previous versions of the TI-84 In the case of Nspire, there were two keyboards available for switching, so it made sense that this one could do the same. Please allow me to dispel that notion if you have it as well. There is no way to swap the keyboard of this calculator. As a matter of fact, the back of this calculator looks very different from the previous one. It's stated in the manual that the keyboard will be removed in order to clean it, but after closer inspection, we discovered Despite references to the CAS calculator in the manual (and not the "Dummies" book here), none of the images indicate its differences from the standard Nspire with a replaceable keyboard. It seems someone at TI didn't think to mention this. The fact that Amazon shows the extra keyboard as an option that is often purchased with this calculator suggests that there are others like me who think the extra keyboard is worthwhile. As for the calculator itself, it does seem to be relatively nifty. My son (a high school sophomore) compares it favorably to his previous Nspire and particularly likes the CAS feature. In spite of that, I am worried that this device won't even make it to the 1-year mark My product had a one-year warranty, but I decided to extend it to three years A 3-year warranty provided by a third party.

This is a great tool
4/5

With the latest OS already installed on the calculator, it arrived at my door. Being able to upgrade the firmware without having to do so right away was a big plus. In addition to the sheer bulk of the unit, the size of the screen, and At first, I was surprised at the resolution. According to what I can tell, it brings everything my '89 had before it to the next level. I think it is a great tool, but I have a few To start with, the viewing angle on is pretty narrow to ensure a sharp image regardless of the device settings In the screen glass, there is a ghostly reflection that becomes semi-transparent Once the angle exceeds 45 degrees, the pain is unbearable. Also, my screen is cocked a few degrees to the right counterclockwise. I don't see it as a deal I don't know what it is about that breaker, but it looks odd. As a last resort, you need to use the vertical peck technique because there are raised letters and symbols everywhere. The deal on this overstuffed couch is a great buy for 60 bucks, plus whatever you find under it. You should cross the cross-roads once you get past it The graphing calculator with the best value per dollar spent on the market may seem to be a mystery until you learn the colors, the split screen functionality, and various other hidden nuances. In addition, I am not talking about dollar-per-ounce prices.
