In the end, this is EXACTLY what it claims to be. The only drawback, and the reason I gave four stars instead of five, is that the person who put these kits together didn't think things through thoroughly. You'll need a drop of water to make your own slides. I've heard that if you buy in bulk like a company, you can get little droppers for less than a penny each. However, it is not included in this kit, despite the fact that it is necessary. The seller provided an accurate inventory of what is included with this product, but expect to be creative or purchase pipetts to use it with.
Excellent value for money.
My family enjoys exploring with a Carson Microbrite 20X-LED flashlight. AmScope 40x-Zoom LED Lighted Pocket Microscope 40X Zoom LED Lighted Pocket Microscope 40X Zoom LED Lighted Pocket Microscope 40X Zoom LED Lighted Pocket Microscope 40 All-1000x All Optical Glass Lenses on a Metal Student Cordless LED Field Biological Compound Microscope. I didn't want glass slides, but these are great for kids because they have a recessed area in the middle. The kit includes slide covers, but I found them difficult to work with, so I used clear cellophane tape instead, which allows the kids to make the slides themselves. You can use the tape to pick up items and place them directly on the slide, and you should also get 'Droppers - Set of 12' plastic pipettes for applying liquids to slides. I wish there were 100 of these plastic slides in a pack.
The new slides for our 9-year-old to look at are proving to be a big hit.
br>I'm looking forward to giving this to my daughter for her birthday, along with the microscope set. Thanks!.
To go with the microscope I gave my nephew, I purchased this kit. It's not a toy microscope; this is the kind that's used in high school and college classrooms. The slides and cover slips are plastic and about half the size of standard glass slides and cover slips, and they are EXTREMELY difficult to manipulate due to their small size; I found them difficult to use, let alone my nephew. I'd return it, but it's not worth my time, and the slides don't fit on a standard microscope stage properly. The slip cover box is so small that, just as I predicted, the slip covers flew everywhere as soon as you opened it. The plastic tweezers that come with it are a joke, there's no dropper, and it only comes with five blank slides instead of the advertised ten. I had a few standard-sized glass slides and slip covers on hand, which was fortunate. I would never recommend purchasing this product, regardless of the size of your equipment.
This microscope was a big hit with my grandson. It was a hit with the entire family. It is something I would recommend. For the money, it's a good deal. I was watching a forensics show on TV and they were using a device similar to this one. A wonderful present.
My granddaughter enjoyed it and it was exactly as described.
