This is a two-part question: first, what kind of wood was used to make the instrument, and second, can a low g string be used instead of a high g string?

Clyde, I'm looking forward to meeting you. br>Thank you for contacting us with your inquiry. Sapele, a wood that is similar to mahogany, is used to make the ukulele. br>All of our ukuleles are ready to play right out of the box. A high G string was used to install it. If you need a low G string, you'll have to buy one separately and replace it yourself. It's not difficult to accomplish; in fact, it's quite straightforward. An example of sound
4/5

NOTE: The first half of the video was recorded at the beach, so there's a lot of background noise, but halfway through, the sound switches to an indoor recording, allowing you to hear the ukulele in action. br>br>Because I live in Hawaii and the ukulele is such an important part of my life, I was thrilled to have the opportunity to try out this concert-sized Lohanu ukulele. It's likely one of the best beginner ukulele deals you'll find. It's a one-stop shop for everything you need. It has a laminate body, which means it is less vulnerable to temperature and humidity changes than a solid wood body. It also means that the sound doesn't have the same tone or resonance as if it were made entirely of wood - However, if you want an all-wood ukulele, you'll have to increase your budget by three times. This ukulele isn't designed for playing at a high level of difficulty. It's a great starter uke or a great spare to have on hand for trips to the beach or parties where a better uke might get smashed. For the price, it includes a slew of extras that you'd probably buy anyway, such as a gig bag, tuner, and strap. It also includes picks, which you can discard. Playing the ukulele with a pick produces an abrasive and shrill sound. Strumming with your fingers on a ukulele produces a more authentic sound. Down is with the thumb, and up is with the index finger. The sound is a lot nicer and warmer now. br>br>This uke is roughly equivalent to the Koaloha concert, which sells for $99. 00 at the warehouse store here. This is a better deal for a uke that is nearly identical in every way; about a dozen of my friends have owned Koaloha ukuleles for years and are very pleased with them. It's a great place to start learning the ukulele - If you stick with it, you might want to upgrade later, but for the most part, this one will suffice for a long time. br>br>A NOTE ON TUNING: A common misconception is that once the strings are tuned, a "good" ukulele will stay in tune. This is a work of fiction. Even small changes in humidity or temperature cause string tuning to change dramatically. If you keep your uke in a house with air conditioning, it should stay in tune for a while (once the new strings have had a chance to stretch), but if you take it outside to visit a friend or go to school, the strings will need to be re-tuned. Before you start playing, make sure everything is in order. The strings will be influenced to some extent whenever the environment changes. My friend, who used to perform in an amateur group around town, used to tell her players to practice at home so they'd be ready to go when they arrived at a gig. They had a habit of being out of tune all of the time. Finally, someone explained the physics of instrument strings to her, and they began tuning immediately before going on stage. People began to comment on how much better they had become almost immediately. D (Also, strings do not last indefinitely. ) After about a year, they begin to sound dull and flat. Pay the $6 for new strings every now and then, and you'll be surprised how much better you sound! )br>br>PS - If you're looking for a unique way to express yourself, try using the words "innovative Writing reviews has turned into an unintentional hobby for me, and it always makes my day to hear that people find them useful (and if they don't, why not). ) Also, feel free to leave a comment below if you have any questions, clarifications, or comments. This item was sent to me for review consideration, and I usually respond fairly quickly, almost always within 24 hours.

It has a lovely sound and appearance
5/5

My ukulele is a favorite instrument of mine. It's stunning and expertly crafted. The sound is of high quality. I enjoy hearing each string strumming at a high volume during each strumming session. It has a lot of details that I really like.

To say the least, I'm extremely disappointed
3/5

following the purchase of my second Lohanu ukulele This was my second purchase of a Lohanu ukulele. In November of 2016, I bought a concert-sized Lohanu ukulele. I decided to purchase a second ukulele and chose this tenor after having no issues with my first Lohanu uke. In October, I decided to replace the g string on this tenor with a low g aquila string, so I bought this ukulele and the low g aquila string. On October 5, 2017, it was delivered. I immediately noticed that this ukulele appeared to be of lower quality than those used in concerts, as well as having a peculiar sound. br>br>I took the tenor uke to a local music store to inquire about the installation of a low g string. When I showed the guy the ukulele, he examined it and assumed it was a used instrument because of its condition. I had noticed a few rough patches on the ukulele's surface that felt like sand paper and wasn't too concerned, but this guy was stunned that a new ukulele arrived in such a state. Then he showed me where the ukulele's bridge was clearly out of alignment, as evidenced by gaps between the bridge and the ukulele's surface. When I asked how much it would cost to simply replace the bridge, he estimated that it could cost up to $100. br>br>Out of curiosity, I ran out and grabbed my concert-sized Lohanu ukulele, which I'd had for ten months, and the bridge was also separated from the ukulele's surface, but not nearly as badly as the new tenor ukulele's. After strumming on a few of the ukuleles in their store, I realized that my concert ukulele, while not as bad as the newer tenor Lohanu ukulele, is producing an odd sound. br>br>I was shocked and disappointed to learn that the two Lohanu ukuleles I bought, the first two stringed instruments I've ever owned, are not the inexpensive, high-quality instruments I had hoped for. The quality difference between the concert and tenor ukuleles leads me to believe that the consistency of each Lohanu ukulele's quality varies greatly. I'm hoping that Lohanu can persuade me that their products are of good quality.

Disintegration

: I am not one to write negative reviews, but I am extremely dissatisfied with this purchase. After reading numerous reviews, I decided to purchase this ukulele. I overpaid because I believed I was getting a good deal, but after only a month, I noticed the neck of the ukulele was detaching from the body. What a letdown!.

This is a nice little bundle, but I did run into a couple of minor issues with it
4/5

A 1 inch square area on the front of the card was not properly finished, as shown in the photo. Only when the light hits the front of the uke at a specific angle does it become visible. Also, as shown in the photo, I did not receive an additional set of strings. When I first got the tuner, it needed a new battery, but it's a lot more precise than my Snark tuner. The gig bag is lightly padded and provides adequate protection for your instrument. This uke is loud and bright, almost as bright as my Kala soprano, and it plays right out of the box with no setup required. There are no sharp edges on the frets, and the action is good. This uke stays in tune for days after a couple of tunings, making it a great value for money.
