I received mine with the box opened and ready to go. All that needs to be done is tuning.

Would this banjo be good for someone who is just learning the instrument? A cheap one with terrible sound is not for me. ?

In terms of playability and tone quality, this is the best option on the market. Despite being plain and plain, the banjo made of rock maple is suitable for travel and as strong as concrete. Unless you're interested in a resonator style banjo, keep reading. This banjo is also available in a resonator style for around a hundred dollars Please accept this as a helpful reply.

A yes, it is open at the I love the sound of that. This is a fantastic

Could you please tell me the size of the hard case I should ?

Selected User Reviews For Deering Goodtime 5-String Banjo

With this banjo, you may not need any other instrument at all! There are so many wonderful things to say As well as this I own a Deering Eagle II that costs more than five times as much, and I have also owned cheap imports
5/5

From the point of view of sound and playability, this Goodtime comes closer to the Eagle II than Therefore, it plays well above its level of competition. I was surprised at how loud and bright the sound was for an open-air location It's the low action and light-weight nature of the back that make it so appealing Playing this instrument is very easy due to the gauge strings. They clearly give the Goodtime a lot of the quality workmanship that goes into their professional products Keeping the cost down by minimizing the frills will allow you to produce high-caliber banjos. There are 1/3 fewer brackets on the Goodtime than on a typical banjo, for example. For those who are just playing the banjo for enjoyment, none of that really matters much for their studies and it doesn't even matter much for the purposes of any beginner or intermediate musician. That it sounds great and plays well is really all that matters. It does. The actual text of this entry is as follows There are a few advantages to Goodtime over expensive professional programs This grade model is for intermediate-level students. With a weight of just 4 pounds (thanks to its minimal hardware and the lack of a tone ring), it is extremely light, making it easy to carry and comfortable to use by children or anyone with back problems. The lightness of this banjo makes it easy to take camping or to the beach, unlike a heavy and expensive instrument. While a satin finish allows your hand to slide easily up and down the neck, a heavy gloss finish on expensive banjos can feel more slippery and cause more friction. I find that the Goodtime's guitar tuners are actually more precise than my Eagle II's planetary tuners. Deering sells a separate armrest for the Goodtime banjo, if you really have to have one (standard armrests won't fit because the bracket spacing is far too wide). It was a quick and easy process to install it. In addition to their open-air resonator kit, Deering also has a resonator kit if you decide to move to closed-air Additionally, you can remove just the resonator as well. It's simply nice to know that you do have the option of adding a resonator in the future as well- By participating in an open-ended discussion, you are not necessarily committing With this model, you can get back what you spent. I bought my open-air trailer when I was eighteen Goodtime was back after a long time, and it was a wonderful experience When I held a well-made, good-sounding, playable banjo for the first time, I just wanted to play it all the time. I found it to be an absolute joy as opposed to the inferior imported banjos I had purchased in the past. Deerings and bought the Eagle II (I fell in love with the company and the products it makes! The purpose of that was to satisfy my enthusiasm. However, the truth is that this simple open-source software is just that My current and future needs could have been satisfied by the money I would have received from Goodtime back then. Goodtime Special) or both (Back). No matter which model you choose, the Goodtime is an outstanding banjo for a beginner and is outstanding for banjo players with any skill level, short of professionals!.

This banjo also sounds good and is good to play and I have a heavy banjo that makes a little better sound
5/5

It's my first time to learn, and I'm older than 80 years old. With this banjo I also get a very good tone and can play longer because I can handle it better with its light weight, so I can spend a lot more practice time with this banjo. I have always loved bluegrass and now I can enjoy playing it too.
I have only been playing for about a month and I am able to play about four songs medium well, I think. The speed is increasing all the time. The convenience of being able to hold it means I can use it in the car while waiting for the other half to return.

It combines everything I want in a banjo tune
5/5

Thanks for Sharing! I really liked the little banjo run in the Dead South's In Hell I'll Be In Good Company. The banjo, a 1970's Kay from craigslist, cost me $80 that day, so I picked it up and started playing it to decide if it was a decent I ordered these Goodtimes two days after I heard them. Two weeks later, I had mastered As someone who has played guitar and banjo most of her life, picking up the banjo came as a natural and awesome transition. There is incredible quality to be found here. There's just nothing not to like about it it's so smooth and well done. The banjo I bought on Craigslist for $80 is still in good shape. So far, having a good instrument has made it easier to stick with it. It has now been two months since I have been playing the banjo and I am able to play many enjoyable pieces.

Under Citi Price Rewind, I was able to bring this item down to $460 by matching the Guitar Center price.

It's a dream to play this banjo! After visiting various websites before purchasing the Deering Goodtime open back banjo, I decided it was the right purchase
5/5

In my opinion, this is the best formula for consistently good results This is the best "beginner" instrument I have looked into, and the reputation is outstanding I deserved it. I'm a beginner on the banjo, but I've played the old time fiddle for 20 years and I've also played guitar, ukulele and the guitar, so I know what to look for. Here are a few things to note about this banjo's It's a rich sound, so you may not like it if you prefer a punchier bluegrass sound, but I find it appealing. I really like the fretboard - A versatile neck model that can be played low or high. It is possible to hold the tuning well with tuners. I just love the look of this instrument. Light is my favorite thing about it- With a strap or on my lap, this game is easy to play. had was that I got bruises on my thighs after jamming for so long, I was too excited to take pictures of. An open backed banjo would do the same thing, and the towel would easily solve the problem. My heart is totally in love with this instrument and I cannot leave it alone.

Despite the low cost, this banjo plays and sounds just as well as the more expensive ones
5/5

This banjo is excellently made and arrived perfectly set up and ready to play, and arrived perfectly set up and ready to play! I used to play a poorly made banjo (not sure of the manufacturer, there are no product labels on it) and decided it was time to upgrade. I am very happy with this banjo. It sounds and plays as good as a much more expensive banjo. I doubt you will find a better banjo for less than $500 if you are looking for a good, affordable banjo.
