We got tired of having to replace costly Countryman cables and mics. I would compete with a Countryman any day for speaking ability. Weekly is the only time I use it.
I purchased the headset because I did not want to spend over $400 for an original I would highly recommend this mic because it is of good quality for just a fraction of the OEM price.
You cannot beat the sound of this mic at this price point. Generally the gain of the battery pack is higher than the expensive mic's, so you have to reduce the input gain on the unit enough to get an undistorted signal out of it. Once you have the gain set, the battery pack is every bit as good as the countryman microphone.
I have bought several of these for replacing the lavaliere microphones of Sennheiser body packs, and they work great and are incredibly reliable.
I bought this mic for extra backup in case a samson airline battery runs out in the middle of my group fitness classes (it always happens in the middle of my classes) so I'll always have a back-up, and for the price this is a no brainer. Probably because the cable would have broken due to my own fault, I just bought a second mic for the same price. For the price, it lasted 4 years, so it's worth it, and the sound quality is excellent as well.
With our system and our application of young actors in our theatre, these are a great match. Since they're not expensive and I don't feel bad about having to replace them, unlike the Countrymen's we had that broke just as easily and proved to be a drain on.
The product was exactly as it was described on the website.
I bought these for youth theatre productions with the expectation that they would last for just one or two performances. Two years after I purchased the original lot, it is still in good shape. My go-to speakers are certainly not Countrymans, but what makes them my favorites are their clear, light and perfect pickup pattern I'm talking to mic kid.
