I paid extra for a set of three of these (14, 12, and 10 inches). br>These skins are not sold as a set by Remo. If weight is an issue, get a Remo tubanos that fits inside each drum and reduces the number of drums to one, making them much lighter and sounding just as good. Both sets are excellent for intermediate drummers who want to play drumcircles. It is dependent on the individual's preferred method of handling.
The size and cost of a full-blown professional conga like LP would have been overkill for the informal jamming we do, so I was looking for a casual, yet serious drum for my wife. However, we desired a "real" instrument's sound and feel. On every level, the REMO Tubano delivers. Even though the 10" is the smallest of the three sizes (with the highest pitch), it produces rich, warm, and punchy low notes. This drum has a great sound. In addition, none of the on-demand services are available. The "Rainbow" pattern is vibrant, festive, and a joy to behold, as evidenced by the line drawings. Although I am not a percussionist, I have worked professionally with several master percussionists over the years, so I am familiar with the sound of good drums. The Tubano is a fine "value" instrument with good sound, sturdy construction, and a reasonable price of $180.
My bar hosts open mic nights and jam sessions twice a week. This method is effective.
