Questions & Answers

What are the odds that this thing gets ?

Snares and kicks are 909, and the hi-hats are 913 Embrace your cap. The number 808 is not valid. As long as it's connected to your laptop, you can trigger samples or drum vst of your choice. I do that all the time.

What are the benefits of using the high-speed Internet Is it possible to use the pedal to control other sounds as well?

In order for the pads to work, you need to hit them

Do you only have AC or do you have a ?

According to my understanding, only AC is involved. It does not appear to have a battery option.

Would the Roland FD8 pedal and KD-100 work with the Roland FD8 pedal Do you have any experience using a 9 kick trigger with a ?

There will be no problem with the kick pedal. The hihat is not clear to me

This is not recommended to use in a live acoustic set up, but may be fine for a solo or acoustic performance
3/5

Buying this device was for the sole purpose of using it as a MIDI controller for Digital Performer, so that I could fire loops, clicks, and playbacks directly from the back of my acoustic drum kit. My disappointment was caused by the purchase. The following reasons are to be considered This is 1. device automatically powers off when not in use. This is an act that should never be performed by a stage gear piece. . * *2. This was the deal killer, I can't worry about loops misfiring because I hit my snare drum (I don't even hit it that hard mind you). Using the pad as a sound source on its own is a fine idea, but I would only do it if the pad was acting as the drums and the stage volume wasn't high enough to cause I bought a Roland SPD so I could use it with my acoustic drums on stage. I suppose it's a fun toy, but not really a trustable piece of kit. For my original purpose, I needed ONE.

Disappointed beyond words, and angry beyond words
3/5

I want you to remove from me the evils of According to the reviews and specifications, the thing should function through a USB cable, and control percussion programs, as well as integrate with DAWs without any problems. Well, at least it looks like it will. I don't think it does. In the manual there are no details about USB and MIDI, so I went to the KAT website and found that USB might not be compatible, so a USB-to-MIDI cable will be needed instead. If a USB port is not needed, what is the point of having one? I connected the USB to my PC and tried bringing it into my Studio One 4 Professional system, but the program froze after I hooked it up. I have changed my mind several times. Since I have been using Presonus for several years, I have never had any issues with their equipment or programs. On top of that, the sounds on the KTMP1 are merely generic MIDI voices, making it sound Because of that, I am unable to use the standard program sounds. It also does not have a good volume. As I wanted to test how it sounded direct to the board, I had to turn the preamp way up in order to get the input volume to system to be as high as it could be. As high as it was possible on the unit, the KAT volume was quite high. I just recieved it today and I opened it right away. I have repackaged it in the box and am ready to send it I'm sure I am the one who will pay for it to be returned. Alesis would have been a better choice. I'm no longer doing business with KAT Percussion and won't be doing business with them in the future. I buy less on line as I become less and less intrigued by companies like KAT. There are so many things I am mad about that I would put no stars.

I really like it
5/5

The way I program drums through the SR-80 was too lengthy and tedious for the music that I write and record Eventually, I was so frustrated with the process that I didn't finish any projects because I hated it Those conditions have completely changed since the KAT was implemented. My intention was to use it as a midi interface to connect to a SR midi controller Playing the parts on my 16 drum machine allowed me to record the parts. Since I am not a drummer, I am usually just playing one part at a time. I used the midi out of this into the SR-80 to play one part at a time. Furthermore, I really love some of the drum sounds that are incorporated into this demo. As far as my needs are concerned, I have essentially The KAT comes with built in sounds, so you can use those instead. However, as has been mentioned, the downside is that the recall function cannot be accessed. It isn't so big a deal for me to have the same sounds assigned to my pads. In case I need to change them again, I have written down the settings so I can move back quickly. Recordings at home can be done with this. The switch will be challenging for you if you want to go live at the same time. It would be necessary to plug the MIDI into another device, and switch scenes on the secondary device at that point. I will probably not use this live, but it's what I would do if I had to use more than 4 sounds on one device. I am using this for surf/rock drums. I'm not a drummer, so I don't need a complicated drum part. There will probably be drummers who would be able to get more out of this, but for what I need, this is perfect.

It is the perfect tool for practicing and recording with your DAW! If you connect a kick trigger and a hihat controller to it (a sustain pedal works too if you are on a budget), it is a great compact kit
5/5

I wouldn't quite call it "pro" gear, but it is a great kit for the price. There are some very nice sounds on board, but I run it through my Mac via USB and I use GarageBand kits to record my tracks. So far, I have only had a week's worth of experience, so I will update you if any issues are encountered. Thanks, Kat!.

There are a few major limitations This is not suitable for live performances
3/5

There are two major reasons for my return of the KTMP1 The drum setups are stored in a single file - 1) It stores only one drum setup. A kit can't have more than one memory location. To change the sound you want on each of the four pads, you must reprogram them individually. Changing between say a standard trap kit and a conga drum or a tabla percussion kit is not as easy as pressing a button. With different sounds and kits, it becomes practically useless for live performances, given the time it takes to program each pad with a new There is too much cross-talk in 1) Pads can communicate with each other. There was a strange trend in which the bottom right pad of my console would sometimes trigger that sound and the sound on either the upper right or lower left pad at the same time, regardless of how softly or where you hit it. Snares sound as though they were hit by a crash cymbal every time you hit them. It all came down to this I found it too unreliable, so it was a deal breaker for me. Apart from that, the unit appeared solid and managed to produce decent sound. However, I will most definitely talk to you about something else if you are a live performer.

An USB port is on the lag
3/5

An OK looking/feeling drum trigger, but there is a noticeable negative score This device has a 5-second) lag when used as a Due to the fact that I use Reason 10 DAW on a fast PC, this was the first piece of USB hardware to cause lag for me. When using a powered USB 3, there is lag. If the USB 3. 0 hub is connected to the computer, and when using a USB 3. 0 hub. The PC on which I work has no ports directly accessible. The Kat support team told me to try using a MIDI port, but I do not have one. This item may work fine with a setup that has a MIDI port, but be cautious if you only have a USB port.
