Selected User Reviews For Behringer Electronic Drum Controller (RD-6-AM)

it is a clone of the Behringer
4/5

This is a clone, but it improves upon As far as I remember the TR 606, it was NOT a great drum machine for the money they were asking. This drum kit was a cheap plastic, did not have any adjustable drum sounds, and cost way too much. As prices dropped in the early 1990's, Acid House musicians made these the hottest machines to have on hand. This new Behringer RD-S combines a wide selection of features The newer version 6 is a major improvement over the original, with a distortion section and semi-reversed patterns Although it has the cheap plastic construction, if it did not have that, would it still be a 606? A comparison of the two yields a sound that is similar to the original. As I have stated, they didn't use a Boss rhythm machine, but for some reason they grabbed a Boss clap and placed it on the exact same channel as the hi-hat. Thus, not only is the gain shared between the two, but so is the output as well. may pose some minor irritation while trying to get a live jam mix balanced, but if that is the worst sin I can live with, then that's okay with me. There's also a distortion section that is nice and crunchy, along with a pattern creation section that is very straightforward. After I got it out of the box and installed the patches, I was making music in no more than five Aside from the yellow, the colour is quite cute. From the easily damaged silver of the original, this is a lot more fun. The clone is the same as the original? In short, yes. It has always been Roland's philosophy to overcharge nostalgia for its products, but despite that, Behringer actually improved on both the 303 and 606 in the long run.

It is a good 606 clone
5/5

For a perfect recreation of the TR-80 you would have to go with the TR-80 Replica If you have the 606, this is the unit to have. It's even more useful if the TD-610 is paired with it. It is not possible to edit drum noises. The system does what it is supposed to do. I think it sounds great, however. The software also comes bundled with full USB and MIDI capabilities, which means you can sync it with other synths, use it with a DAW, and play the drums manually via There is a limited quantity, but it is inexpensive. It is worth it because of that. Spend the extra two to three hundred dollars if you want to do more, and then you can use the features you would find in The price isn't a reason to knock this, because it's so inexpensive. The price of that is well worth it, you get a real analogue drum machine. Even if the drum machine is just used as a toy to mess around with, it's still worth picking.

I am shocked that this was made so poorly
3/5

I like the way it sounds when it works. It's kind of sad, for a clone to return, but no one would want to use it live.
This is so poorly made that people can't trust it. There are flakey switch and an old case that appears to be coming apart at the seams. As cheap as possible was the goal, although it sounds like a good machine. There is sometimes no audio until you switch on/off the distortion mechanism-Just received this and it sometimes doesn't work at all. Hold down the slide switch or press hard on it. I would return it, since I cannot imagine it lasting more than a year even if it were working. For this to feel and be more reliable, it would only have taken an addition of $25 to the price. These were designed to end up in the landfill, so there won't be any vintage versions to replace them. That's too bad. Is this the same as the TD-? Despite their failure to produce a decent product in 3, most of their other recent clones are quite good.

I like the idea of this machine, but the build quality is extremely flimsy, so I'm not sure it will last more than a year
3/5

That's probably fine given its low price. My personal preference would have been a bit higher build quality and a price increase if Behringer had charged a little more for their current batch of clones. Then there is Behringer, which has a successful track record I suppose you get what you pay for when it comes to bargain basement gear.

This is a nice but not perfect app
3/5

It is annoying that you can't change the sounds, but the app is easy to use and the sounds are good. A reverb and delay are necessary to unlock the potential of this track. It really is just a matter of how creative you are. Of course, there are better drum machines out there, but if you're looking for that vintage flavor or a complementary piece to your TD3, then there you have it. We need the music to live. Peace.

i love the price I will enjoy it a lot once I figure out how to use it
5/5

there are tons of YouTube videos on how to use it. Behringer rocks for the price, and it is definitely the way to go.

Beats that make up the foundation of acid house
5/5

You can step into your mind and listen to the strange acid loops of the TB303, &A, if you close your eyes and turn back the clock roughly 30 years. Using its sister (or brother) the TR606, you might be able to capture the euphoric vibes at a reasonable price for a night on the town. You get the same sound with a bit of distortion, as well as the extra hand clap that comes with the TR606 from Behringer. The system is analog. That's the first thing to note. Batteries aren't included, and you can only alter the distortion of the drum sounds. There is a limit to the amount of internal memory you can store your patterns on the device. The steps are 16 and the patterns are 32. It sounds limiting, yes, but there are ways to get The back of the drum kit has six mini jacks for the different sounds. With a cable connected, you can route it to other guitar pedals, FX units, filters, compressors, etc. , and now your sound is even more rich. A sync input/output is located on the front panel, and if you're into modular gear, the low & high outputs are also available It is possible to trigger your CV synths from your high toms. Plus we added a clap from the Boss DR110 drum machine, too. Sync it to your TD3 or MS1, or your Korg Volcas, and you have fun for less than a down payment on a new automobile on eBay. However, you are getting a great deal if you invest here. You can easily backup your patterns from a USB drive if you own a DAW. There are a bunch of different colors to choose from as well. As long as you can live with its limitations, this drum machine gives you a close reproduction of the sounds of the 606 drum machine. RD8 or RD9 (808/909) clones will work for you, or you can get that sound via RD8. In any case, regardless of your style(s) of music (Electro, Breaks, House, Techno), it's something worth exploring. You may be more of a rock or metal kind of person. I think this is NOT an acoustic drum kit.

If you buy it, I hope you have fun with it!.
