Selected User Reviews For BexGears Electric Guitar Kits Okoume wood Body maple neck & composite ebony fingerboard
I bought this kit for the body and neck with the intention of making an "art" guitar if it doesn't work out very well. In the event that it turned out well, I intended to swap out all the hardware and turn it into a playable instrument. After opening the box, it was quite playable and surprisingly decent for the price, but the plastic nut was not in good shape. I am not able to rate the hardware that came with it, as I am currently I am pleased with the quality of the body and neck for the price.
The pickguard came preloaded, but the jack will need to be soldered. This guitar's body is made out of bass wood -- Only a small portion of the body had to be sanded at first, while the neck was not touched. As the body absorbed my inks (which I hand painted on, sanded between coats, and so what you see is about 7 or 8 layers This sheen is simply the result of hand polishing, as neither the finish nor the finish has even been added Those who are making their first guitar will find this a very easy one to work with, although they will have to have it set up professionally if they don't know how to do it themselves In other words, it is not possible to make a cheap guitar into a high-end guitar. My package was well packaged, and I received it There were no missing items in my kit or any damage upon arrival.
There is a lot to love about this kit for the price, but there are a few things to keep in mind. This guitar's okoume wood is excellent and the ebony fingerboard and neck are insane for the price. The neck is chunky, like that of a Les Paul, but you can sand it down to make it more comfortable for you. A fret leveling and crowning is usually needed to get the action low enough so the kit guitar doesn't buzz, but this is true for all kits. In basic terms, the nut is untouched, and you will have to file the slots in order to make them the correct height(this is critical). There is a problem with the alignment of the drill holes on the neck plate, so the neck plate cannot be used. For the neck, I used a shorter screw of the same thickness and some washers, and I think it actually looks quite nice. There are no errors in the alignment of the drill holes on the neck and the body. There is nothing wrong with the tuners, so order more, but the bridge appears to be fine. It takes just minutes to put on the prewired pick guard, which requires only the ground wire to be soldered to the trem claw and the input wire to be attached to the jack, which plugs right into the guitar and the pickups actually sound It will make a very nice guitar for you if you use the Hope everything works out for you.
Having acquired this kit, to include Fender locking tuners, a Fender bridge, new strings, yet I cannot keep the guitar in tune. The tuning seems impossible to adjust and I realized the hard way that I am not a guitar builder at all.
I had issues but it wasn't too bad either. We had to do quite a bit of sanding on the wood since most of the pieces wouldn't lay My amp jack connector was too big to fit in the hole they drilled, so I had to fix it. Instructions are a complete joke, so you'd better be handy with a tool and know what you're doing.
I am a long time player, but this is my first build. Without instructions, you learn many important things, from wood staining to electrical wiring, and you get to learn how to sing in tune. I'm eager to begin my next and hope to finish it soon!.
Therefore, after I spent three very painful weeks applying a gorgeous finish to the wood, I began assembling. The assembly went off without a hitch for the most part. It was convenient for them to leave untapped the two holes that are supposed to be used for the adjustment plate and springs when they assembled the floating bridge. You're right, no holes were predrilled. You can see why these holes aren't there if you look at the location of these holes and where they need to be. In this area, you can't use a drill. To install them, use a 1/4 drive ratchet and a Phillips screw bit on a nail and hammer and then make the two holes using a nail and hammer. I have a headache that is killing me. I finished assembly a couple of hours after figuring out how to drill the two most important holes, but the unit still doesn't I cannot believe how bad that is. It should be easy to wire this thing, but there are no instructions that explain it. There is one major issue, you have to take all the strings off that you just put on, if you want to get to all the wiring for the pickups, you cannot access the wiring from The tree has been thrown into the corner because it is upset. It would have been best to just purchase a new guitar from a music store that was already assembled and ready to play. Take care of this piece of junk, which I would call garbage. All of you who buy it, I wish you the best of luck.
Free shipping was included in the price of $65 when I bought it. In addition to modifying the head stock, I modified the neck twisted as well. The body and cable jack were the only parts that I did not replace. There was a muddy sound coming from the pickups. When I build the following one, I'll consider keeping the neck and experimenting to I found assembling the kit to be really easy. This guitar is ideal for beginners and a great first guitar to build. You may have to replace the tuners, nut, and strings, but you get a good body to sand and finish for $65 dollars. You will probably have to route the neck if you do replace it. that I have finished it, I will use it as a main source for my work. The neck is good but I wish I had a locking tuner, a Fender picjk guard kit with Texas Specials, and locking tuners. This guitar has a great setup and playability, thanks to the neck installation and setup by my guitar tech. Thanks for writing in, I'm ready to compare it to any Fender Custom Shop at a fraction of the cost.
A couple of instructions are missing. The use of you- Review the assembly by looking at the tube. We got a much better outcome than we expected. The time spent was well worth it, mkbey and co. It's an effort!.
