I had never owned a Schecter bass or even been aware of them as a brand I might enjoy until I was in the market for a new bass and they were mentioned in almost every comparison review I read in the $500 price range. I'd seen the name on a few nice shredders but hadn't looked into their basses until now, and I'm glad I did. br>br>For context, this is purely a hobby instrument; I don't gig these days, but this is an instrument I would have put to the test back when I was putting instruments through the wringer that is the college/small bar music scene. br>br>The neck feels a little on the wide side to me, but the nut width is very standard, so it could just be that the neck shape is a little thicker than the bass it replaced. The satin finish, on the other hand, is fantastic, and my thumb glides effortlessly across it. There haven't been any fret edges that I've come across. The build quality is excellent in general, and with the exception of a fancy top or finish, it's about as good as I'd expect from basses priced around $1,000. br>br>While the electronics aren't the best you can get, they do an excellent job for a fraction of the price of a new preamp and pickups (or more). I don't use the two-band EQ very often, but the treble and bass EQ do their jobs well. br> The two pickup positions and blend each have their own tonal sweet spots, and I've had a lot of fun playing everything from Primus to Marcus Miller to NIN to ye olde 12 bar blues. br>br>Overall, a fantastic 5-string guitar. I don't think I'll ever be able to get away from it.
That said, I believe this is an excellent place to begin if you're serious about learning to play bass. My first bass, which was purchased secondhand, had a lot of fret buzz and dirt in the channel. br>However, I'm happy to report that this bass does not have that problem. The action is fantastic right out of the gate. The signal is extremely clean (low sound floor) and sounds fantastic when paired with a good amplifier. br>In comparison to my first bass, which I purchased used for $300, this one blows it away. I would never perform on stage with my first bass. This Stealth bass, on the other hand, would go with me anywhere! br>Excellent value for money bass. br>br>The only thing is that the sound of jazz basses appeals to me. This isn't the same as that! Expect a more aggressive, deep sound. br> Which, to some extent, can be adjusted accordingly. It's a little heavier than I'd like, but that's not a deal breaker for me (your mileage may vary).
Great sound and feel, but be aware that you may need to tweak the tension rod and bridge a little. I experienced a lot of drag and had to make adjustments. It had a fantastic sound and feel after it was set up.
Queen Sheba was her name. For $450, this is an incredible deal. If you're a professional or a beginner, this is the bass for you. very well-made it appears to be hot.
Anyone can use it easily.
I would strongly recommend it to anyone in the market for a new bass.
It's a really nice bass that's well made and sounds fantastic. It's great for both beginners and professionals, and I really like it.
