Questions & Answers

What is the distinction between java reds and java greens?

Many people think the JAVA Green is a little brighter and the JAVA Red is a little sharper. If you want to try a variety of cuts, I recommend getting a Vandoren Jazz Mix Card (SRMIXB25).

Is it possible to use these reeds with a standard mouthpiece or only with a jazz mouthpiece?

On a standard mouthpiece, I use these. I use the reeds for more than just jazz; I play jazz, but I also use them in my regular concert band, and they work well with any ensemble.

I couldn't get it to work for me
3/5

A VanDoren V16 B7 Bari mouthpiece was recently purchased by me. The VanDoren 2 was my first thought. It would be best if you used 5 reeds. My assumptions were incorrect. It sounded stuffy, and getting any sound took a lot of effort. When I looked at it side by side with other reeds, I noticed that the vamp (the part of the reed that connects the tip of the cane stock to the heel) is noticeably longer than most others. I'll work on it with my Reed Geek to see if there's anything I can do to improve it. I gave it two stars because I enjoy using this type of reed on my tenor sax. It could have just been a bad reed, but at these prices, they should all be good.

These reeds are fantastic, and I have no regrets about investing in them
5/5

These reeds are fantastic, and I have no regrets about investing in them. Although they are a little pricey ($8 per reed! ), they are worth it. ), and the sound quality is excellent. When I run out of these puppies, a friend suggested I try V16's, so I'll pick up a box of those. These are stunning reeds.

I would purchase this item again
5/5

These reeds are amazing, and I'm using a Vandoren v16 b9 mouthpiece with the v16 optimum ligature. With my setup, it sounds fantastic. I'd buy it again in a heartbeat. The delivery was quick.

By far the best reed brand
5/5

By far the best reed brand. My son has experimented with various reeds while playing saxophone (from alto to bari). For his ensemble work, these provide the best sound.
