Selected User Reviews For Vandoren SR2215 Tenor Sax Traditional Reeds Strength 1.5; Box of 5
I had never purchased Vandoren reeds before, having been a long-time Rico reed user, but after hearing all the hype, I decided to give them a try. Purchased for use with my tenor saxophone. I was surprised that I kept getting squeaks and that it was difficult to fit it into my mouthpiece. I'm not sure what happened. I've been playing the saxophone for over 30 years and believe I can put a reed on my mouthpiece. Sure, some shaving is required, but who has time for that when performing in front of an audience? After wetting the reed and soaking it in a cup of water, I expected it to be sharp and ready to use. This reed just didn't feel right to me.
Only two reeds are usable straight from the package. The rest of the pieces are crookedly cut. Vandoren was recommended by the teacher, but he did not impress him.
My youngest daughter plays tenor and baritone, and she adores these reeds when she uses her C* mouthpiece. When she uses this brand, she consistently achieves excellent tone.
A great deal on a tried and true classic sax reed!.
top notch.
I like the name (Brand), and it's fantastic when you find a good reed. It's still a hit-or-miss situation after you've done your regular reed maintenance. They're either too extreme, too good, or require too much effort to be acceptable. I'm sorry for being honest, but I'm still going to buy them.
It's not uncommon for a reed to arrive broken now and then, but this box came with three right away.
