Questions & Answers
They're not canes, they're canes.
I'd expect him to be ready to move up to a firmer reed after a year of playing. I'd recommend going with a 3 and comparing it to your current setup. Even though their hardness is similar, the Rico and Vandoren may play differently. There is no such thing as a one-size-fits-all solution when it comes to shoes. To achieve a good tone, a number of factors must be considered.
It's reeds made of cane.
If you've only been playing for two months with 2 1/2, you'll notice that you're ready for Vendoren red box 1 1/2.

Very good quality! Vandorens are known for their consistency. They're made by one of the world's most well-known and widely used reed companies. Vandoren has perfected the reed-making process. Each reed is handcrafted and sealed in its own plastic sleeve to keep the moisture content intact. I've been using Vandorens since I first picked up a saxophone, and I still do. I've experimented with different brands and styles, but never skimp on reeds. Get yourself a pair of Vandorens.
Since high school, Vandoren has been my reed of choice. And now that my son is 30 years old and in band, he prefers Vandoren as well. br>br>These are $8 each locally, so a box of five for this price is a great deal!.
As a tenor in high school, I go through a box of these about once a month for concerts, unless I'm in marching band, in which case it's once every half-month. It would be nice to get more in a box for $30 because I spend so much money on them.
Perfect for my daughter's summer saxophone practice.
My daughter, not I, was the one who used these. I'm giving them a good review because they were less than half the price of the exact same item at the local music store. She advised that they be thoroughly reviewed because they were nice reeds and a step up from the one she was using. She claimed they were smoother and less likely to chip than her previous brand, as well as having a noticeable sound improvement.
My son's favorite place to visit.
On October 8, I bought a box of five of these. Three of them were unusable due to their poor quality. So each reed cost $13. It's ridiculous.
