The best synthetic reed on the market
5/5

Legere reeds are one of my favorite types of reed. For my clarinets, saxes, and bassoon, I have them. The buyer must have a clear understanding of what they are purchasing. They are, in my opinion, the best synthetic reed available, and the listener cannot tell the difference between them and a cane reed. Choosing the right strength reed, on the other hand, may necessitate trying a few different reeds, which is best done at a dealer because returns are not always possible. Simply assuming that a 3 legere will be the same as a LaVoz medium hard (for example) is likely to be disappointing. Scraping and adjusting Legere reeds is not possible. If you've never used a Legere before, I suggest reading the literature on the Legere website (Google is your friend).

Great
5/5

My husband was a member of the symphony, had his own big band, and was adamant that plastic reeds were not for him. He decided to try Legere after being persuaded by a friend. On both the alto and tenor saxes, he now employs them. Since retiring to Colorado and often 10% humidity, it's been super great. He can switch between saxes and clarinets without reeds becoming wet.

This is the best synthetic reed I've tried, but it's also the most expensive
5/5

On all of my saxes, I use Legere - Alto, tenor, and baritone are some of the most popular vocal ranges. It's extremely convenient not to have to wet it or worry about it drying out or warping on you during a performance, as a cane reed would. When compared to a good cane reed, there are some tonal differences, but they are minor - The listener isn't aware of it. However, it has a slightly different sound and feel to me as a player. It doesn't have the same warmth as a good cane reed, in my opinion. I do recommend legere; my only complaint is that they are so expensive!.

Their products are backed by Legere
5/5

I originally placed an order for two (2). I didn't like number 5, because it was too rigid. When I contacted Legere, they swapped it out for a 2. There are 25 signature series in total. My saxophone instructor was taken aback by the tone and clarity of a synthetic reed.
