Questions & Answers

Is it possible to play these on an oboe with these?

I'm not sure what I'm saying. I purchased it to use with my clarinet. Have you looked for an oboe-specific instrument? Alternatively, you could go to a music store and compare the thumbrests on different instruments. Sometimes a generic one will suffice, but I wanted one that matched my clarinet, and my store only had generic ones. You could also measure your oboe's thumbrest and compare it to the dimensions on this item.br>I apologize for not being of more assistance.

Fits a Yamaha 650 with this thumb rest?

Yes, that is not an issue.

Yamaha makes an excellent thumb rest cushion
5/5

The Yamaha thumb rest cushion is a snug fit on the thumb rest and provides excellent support and comfort; the synthetic black rubber-like material is soft and pliable and is just slightly larger in diameter than the thumb rest. My personal preference is for the Protec thumb rest cushion (available direct from Amazon), which has a larger diameter and even softer material than the Yamaha, providing even better support and comfort while remaining a snug fit. However, because the Protec cushion is translucent rather than black, it can be a problem in clarinet cases with limited depth beneath the thumb rest. br>br>THIS REVIEW HAS BEEN UPDATED: After using both the Yamaha and Protec thumb rest cushions for a few months, I actually prefer the Yamaha cushion to the Protec. The Yamaha cushion's firmer material and smaller size are actually more comfortable and less distracting for me. I've also discovered that most clarinet cases don't fit the larger Protec cushion, but the Yamaha cushion usually does. In the end, both thumb rests are excellent, and your preference will be determined by you.

It's not going to fall off! This cushion does its job well and is comfortable, but it has one major advantage over its competitors: it does not fall off
5/5

I'm sick of scrounging around on the floor looking for ones I've already tried. It's not cheap, but it's well worth the money.

It is possible to save the thumb
5/5

Any clarinet should be able to play it. Fits my Yamaha as well as my Artley. I had previously relied solely on tape and cushion for support. This is a step forward.

Nice!
5/5

Protec's softer version has always been my go-to. That is very helpful to my son: It's easy to put on and take off because it's soft and comfortable. However, it is subject to wear and tear. br>br>This Yamaha model is a little stiffer, but it has a few nice features. A slight ridge runs along one side of the thumb rest. so that your thumb does not fall off. I'm satisfied with my purchase overall.

When playing, it's very comfortable, and it does a good job. I am extremely happy.
