Questions & Answers

What does it have to do with ?

As of right now I own a BL3, not the BL5. Because this mouthpiece creates a rich, warm sound, it would be an excellent choice for classical or jazz. Your airstream can of course be decorated with additional colors. The combination of this mouthpiece and an optimum ligature is perfect.

What is it's primary purpose? Is it primarily a jazz mouthpiece or a classical one?

It is classical. You can also consider the BL3 and BL4 mouthpieces (which are a little more open) if you're looking for a classical mouthpiece.

Default mouth piece of the highest caliber
5/5

I have been using it for about two years and it just broke when I got careless and dropped, so I am going to try super glue. You shouldn't go with anything else! I highly recommend it!.

It has been a fantastic series
5/5

This Vandoren L3 series mouth piece is very popular with my daughter. We spent a considerable amount of time searching for a good mouth piece to match the Bari from her school, but I found it on Amazon who was able to deliver it in two days, giving her plenty of time for her performance at ISSMA. In addition to alto and tenor, she now possesses a baritone as well. She will be getting another purchase from me when she gets her Soprano Sax.

Exactly what I was looking for! I really like how it works A bit more closed than C*, but definitely a darker sound, and the controlled tone it gives off

I like this mouthpiece a lot
5/5

An excellent sound with good control is provided by this mouthpiece. Playing on any other mouthpiece would not be an option for me. The model I use on every saxophone that I play is this one.

It is versatile and has a rich tone
5/5

In the past year I purchased a BL4, and I have been using it for my concert band and quartet (that covers Overall, I find this mouthpiece to be very versatile and I am pleased with the overall sound improvement. Prior to this I was using a cheap Rico metalite mouthpiece (which quite honestly is a very good mouthpiece, especially for the price, but it is too punchy for concert and During the last few months, I have tried several other mouthpieces, including the vaunted Selmer S-110 In the 80 C* range, I like the BL4 the best. Right now I am looking for a more classical sound, so I ordered the BL5 because that is supposed to be more "classical. " This is something I am looking forward to trying.
