For my son, I bought a lower-quality $300 Chinese-made sax called "Glory. " He sounded like a dying goose before this mouth piece, I swear. After a month of suffering from the sounds coming from that sax, I decided to take a chance and buy this mouthpiece, and MAN! What a stark contrast! Seriously, it improved his sound a lot. It didn't turn him into a virtuoso, but he sounds a lot better now. Thank you so much, Yamaha, for producing such a high-quality product.
After reading many reviews before making my purchase, I learned that instead of using the mouthpiece that came with the sax, I should purchase the Yamaha 4C mouthpiece. That's exactly what I did, and I have to say, it made it a lot easier to play while also improving the tone. That suggestion was well received - Thank you for your feedback, reviewers!.
After a hiatus, I'm resuming my saxophone playing. Amazing. After resuming saxophone playing after a ten-year hiatus, I needed a good quality mouthpiece that would serve comfort, tone, and air passage, and Yamaha as a brand is a true symbol of quality. This piece is ideal for beginners who want to learn good air control while maintaining a beautiful tone, or for those returning to the instrument who don't want to spend a fortune on a new instrument. It even arrived a day earlier than expected.
This was purchased for my son, who is just starting out on the alto saxophone. It turned out that his first sax had some issues. Fortunately, we were able to exchange it for another, and Omg. What a stark contrast. Then I had this brilliant idea for a mouthpiece. I began looking through them and ultimately chose this one. I have no qualms about it at all. The sound is much better, richer, and precise now than it was previously. It's also much easier for my son to play quietly now, which is fantastic. He enjoys it, so I'm glad I got it. His music teacher, I believe, will be perplexed as to what occurred. Just because he got new equipment over the holidays, it's like he took a giant step forward.
Normally, I don't do Amazon product reviews, but this time I'm making an exception. br>br>I've been playing sax for about three months on a YAS 23, which came with a NEMC student mouthpiece, so I decided to upgrade to the Yamaha 4C. br>br>My MPC went missing after about three months of pretty good progress, if I do say so myself, and I had to rely on the NEMC one. It's as if the world has turned upside down. In every way, from playability to sound and even tuning, the 4c outperforms it. Is the 4C a work of art? There is no way. It's made for us, the students, to be able to hear something. Is it a cut above most "student" mouthpieces? br>br>Is it a cut above the rest? Yes, yes, yes, yes, yes, yes, yes, yes, yes, yes, yes, yes, yes If you're a student or just getting started, do yourself a favor and buy either this or the 5C for $25. Yamaha is a well-known brand in the industry, and rightfully so. Because of their consistent quality control, you're less likely to get a "bad" Yamaha MPC than with many other brands. Everyone I spoke with pointed me to the 4c as the industry standard, and I now see why. br>br>I'm looking forward to my replacement arriving on Monday!.
They both chipped (in January 2017 and August 2018). The most recent one lasted only a few weeks.
During a practice session, I put on a hard rubber Selmer piece and was so impressed that I decided to order a Yamaha 4c, which was what my horn originally came with (but was misplaced). br>When the 4c arrived, I sat in that office for about an hour and played. It is highly controllable and speaks well at all levels. The Meyer will always have a place in my kit, but the 4c is fantastic!.
I'm giving this Yamaha mouthpiece five stars because I'm confident it's a high-quality, well-made instrument that sounds fantastic. However, Amazon did send me a mouthpiece for a Soprano Saxophone - Naturally, it will not work on my alto. Because the Amazon label on the box is incorrect, I strongly advise you to purchase this mouthpiece from somewhere else, lest you end up with a mislabeled, unusable mouthpiece as well. I'm especially disappointed because it's been over 30 days since I've returned - I'm unable to return it at this point! Ugh! br>br>NEW ADDITIONAL INFORMATION - Amazon was gracious enough to work with me to rectify the situation. Thank you so much! I was so impressed that I decided to order a $100 Meyer mouthpiece instead. Amazon, you've done a fantastic job.
