Questions & Answers
sound appealing and simple
To begin, I recommend starting with a number 4 or 5. Try to purchase items that can be exchanged or returned. The numbers correspond to the opening at the mouthpiece's tip. If there's an asterisk next to it. It's somewhere between those two numbers. 4,4*, 5,5*, and so on. The wider the opening, the more air is required.
Selected User Reviews For Otto Link OLR-402-5S Tone Edge Rubber Alto Sax Mouthpiece
Otto Link's reputation has suffered in recent years due to allegations of shoddy mouthpieces and poor quality control, but the unit I received is in excellent condition. It fits snugly against the reed, ensuring a good seal. It has a brighter sound than I expected, but that has nothing to do with the quality. I'm used to the tone of a Yamaha 6C. Give this one a try if you want a hard rubber mouthpiece at a reasonable price.
After trying about eight different mouthpieces (Meyer, Selmer, etc. ), I decided on one of these because it offered the tone I was looking for at a reasonable price, and it's flexible enough to be adapted to most any type of music, which was a major consideration when purchasing.
The sound quality is excellent.
This mouthpiece is fantastic.
It appears to be a hit with my child.
Mouthpiece of excellence.
I didn't realize it until recently, but I've had this mouthpiece since 1979. I've played it in bands and recorded it in the studio, and people always compliment me on my tone. Before settling on this one, I looked at several others. It's still in use for me. As a result, it must be something I enjoy.
