Questions & Answers
We have a 1 1/2 size that fits perfectly. We currently have two of these stands, one for a full cello and the other for a half cello.
Here's a video of the stand's bottom...I'm not sure if it's solid wood or veneered wood - However, perhaps you can learn something from this.
Our full-size cello fits snugly in the stand, but I imagine a 7/8 would require additional padding to stay in place.
It appears to be made of solid wood rather than veneer. The stain is cherry. This is a fantastic piece.

The wooden box is very attractive; it appears to be a nice piece of furniture, and the plush red velvet padding adds a lot of comfort. quality. There is a channel in the back for the bow, which completes it, but it is not visible in the Amazon photos. I've always kept my cello in its case, but I'm tired of zipping and unzipping to practice, and I was concerned that a cat might accidentally bump into it, injuring my cello. This suits me perfectly and feels as solid as a rock. I can't believe it's taken me this long to order this!.
This was a birthday present for me, and I absolutely adore it! My cello is out in the open, and I can pick it up and start practicing without having to drag the bulky case in and out of the closet. Behind the cello, mine had a padded notch for bow storage. The cello is VERY sturdy when in the stand, which isn't shown in the display photos and was a pleasant surprise.
If you're concerned about your cello's safety, this is an excellent stand; it won't tip over, and the protective velvet won't scratch it. In the back corner, there's a spot for your bow as well. It's also a very nice piece of furniture! Take a look at the photos!.
My cello fits perfectly, and I was pleased to discover that it has a spot for my bow on the right back side. It also has a nice finish.
This is fantastic. It allows me to keep my prized cello upright, safe, and out of its case, allowing me to play it more frequently throughout the day. I've propped it against a wall in a safe corner, but I'm still worried that my cat will knock it over, so I ordered (but have yet to install) a cello wall mount to keep the neck secure. But, if you don't have a cat (especially a naughty one), the wooden stand alone would suffice. It's made of light wood, but it's plush enough for me, and it'll last for a long time. It's expensive, but not when compared to a cello, because it fits snugly and safely inside. So.
br>It arrived with damaged wood on the top borders, so the packaging isn't up to snuff. I didn't want to go through the trouble of going through the return, so I filled it with wood putty and retouched it. br>I'm sure I'll keep it.
We purchased a full-sized cello on Saturday, and I wanted to protect it from falls and scratches, so I ordered this stand from Amazon on Sunday, and it arrived the next Wednesday. The cello is well-fitting, with no back-and-forth or side-to-side movement, and a good but not exceptional wood finish. I was aware of this when I placed my order, opting for a $100 rather than $250 price tag because I did not want to pay $150 for a better finish. br>br>3/3/16 Update - After more than two years of daily use, I still think it's a fantastic stand. I've had no problems with it and it's as good as new.
The stand was shipped quickly and arrived a day ahead of schedule. The stand was well wrapped in bubble wrap and the shipping carton was extra thick cardboard. Despite the fact that it is made of plywood, it has a nice finish. My 4/4 cello fits perfectly, and there's a bow holder slot on the right side.
