When I decided to take up the viola, however, I realized I wouldn't be able to put up with it any longer. I kept getting the sensation that the metal hardware was piercing my neck and collarbone. The style with the over-the-tailpiece appeared to be too tall as well. I'm a fan of Wittner tailpieces and pegs, so I decided to try out this chin rest. It's ideal! There's no more digging in, and it's a lot more relaxing. Furthermore, it is extremely simple to set up. Instead of using the traditional metal clamps, it comes with a small phillips head screwdriver. I've already made the decision to purchase one for my violin. I'm no longer willing to put up with uncomfortable chin rests!.
This rest's more centered but still to the side mount is much more ergonomic and will help you feel more secure while playing, thus improving your overall playing posture. It's a little difficult to set up at first, but it comes with everything you need and only takes 5 minutes. I recently purchased this for my viola after using it for nearly a decade on my violin. This is an excellent product.
For the chin, a good-sized bowl is provided. Simply follow the instructions on the package's image and everything should be fine. Before tightening the clamps, make sure the clasps are pressed tightly against the instrument. Instead of indenting the wood, the cork on the connection points to your instrument's wood is just enough to accommodate the torque when you screw it down.
My son is allergic to the metal on his original viola chin rest, and while the plastic is better for him, the chin rest isn't as comfortable as the wooden one he had. You can't have it all.
In Brevard County, I work as a string consultant. The violin version of this product was tested on more than 100 students ranging from elementary to high school, and the majority found it to be much more comfortable. br>br>I'm a string consultant in Brevard County, Florida, and I use one myself after playing for 20 years. It was a simple transition and a significant upgrade. (I'm writing a review on behalf of my family).
On both of my violins, I have a Wittner chinrest. They're simple to put together and stay put once you've done so. They are affordable, comfortable, and I have never had any issues with them.
It's perfect for my daughter's 15-inch viola.
