Questions & Answers

Is it possible to fit a full-size violin kun shoulder rest in this bag?

This is a lovely bag. Yes, it will fit a full-size Kun shoulder rest; I have one in my bag, which fits perfectly on my violin case. It quickly adapts to the case and can hold much more than the Kun. Cheers.

Will a bonmusica 4/4 violin shoulder rest fit in here?

My son's 4/4 bonmusica violin shoulder rest fits perfectly and has plenty of room to spare.

Will a shoulder rest for a viola in size 14 fit in this pouch?

A 14- A 4/4 or full-size viola is nearly the same size as an inch viola. Yes, shoulder rests for 4/4 violins will fit in this pouch.

Is there any way to tell if a Bon Musica 4/4 violin shoulder rest will fit in this case?

I'm not familiar with the Bon Musica, but we use it for our 4/4 shoulder rest. This case is quite large, and I'm sure we could fit two rests in it.

Hold Your Bon Musica 4/4 Violin Rest - May or May Not Or any other size
3/5

I read the debate over whether a 4/4 Bon Musica violin rest would fit, and I purchased the pouch under the assumption that it would. Wrong - br>br> It's not a good fit for me - But now I know why, and hopefully this will save others from disappointment. br>br>It all depends on how much 'hook' you bend into your shoulder rest: if it's not too extreme and the rest is relatively flat, it'll fit inside this pouch. However, if you chose a Bon Musica because of the ease of bending it into a sharp hook to hang over narrow shoulders, the result is a shape that may not fit in this pouch. br>br>However, if you chose a Bon Musica because of the ease of bending it into a sharp hook to hang over narrow shoulders, the result is a shape that may not fit in this pouch - br>br>The worst part is that it's completely unnecessary: I can't close the zipper completely and cover the entire pouch because doing so requires far more effort than I want to expend and will likely damage the pouch over time. When I went looking for a rest pouch, I was surprised at how few options there were, and pencil/travel pouches don't even come close to meeting the 9 1/2 inch minimum length foot-length requirement. I calculated the length of my foot. br>br>Why would Protec miss out on such a lucrative market if they didn't think big? figuratively speaking Bon Musica rests aren't exactly obscure - they come in a variety of lengths to accommodate any violin or viola rest. They're extremely well-known - I'm sure I'm not the only one who has had to improvise a way to carry it around without collapsing feet (my solution is a rolled-up newspaper). I wrap an elastic band around a nylon kerchief to keep it in place). br>br>I'm sure I'll find a use for this pouch - However, this was not the intention.

It was well worth the money
5/5

I am a sophomore in high school, and I am a member of the orchestra. Because the feet didn't fold up and I carry my shoulder rest around in my backpack all day at school, I had to take a shoulder rest break. Because I keep my violin at home and use the school's violin, this is the case. So my mother decided to purchase the case in the hopes of extending the life of the shoulder rest. This case is great because the zipper works well and I believe it protects the shoulder rest, but the material is thin and it would be nice if it were a little thicker. The shoulder rest is a little too big; it could be smaller or even thicker. I like the little clips on each end when I place the shoulder rest and there is a lot of empty space inside. I don't use the clips on a daily basis because I keep the case in my backpack, but it's nice to be able to clip this shoulder rest case to my violin case when I have concerts and need to bring my violin from home. That way, I'll have one less thing to carry and won't lose my shoulder rest. I think this is a worthwhile purchase; I just wish they had a little more padding so I could feel like my class wouldn't lose his shoulder rest. On my shoulder rest, a small piece of wood chipped off; I'm not sure if it was caused by this case or if it just happened, but it could be thicker.

Love it

This is fantastic. Her shoulder rest had a peg fall out, so I had to buy a new one. She was told she needed to get it replaced by the school. I paid $26 for it. It turns out that the peg is falling off because the case the school gave her for her rest is too big and sticks out. So that doesn't happen again, I bought her a new shoulder rest case. I should have done a better job on the case at school so I wouldn't have had to replace the last shoulder rest, but you live and learn. She'll be able to continue to use it as she gets older.

It's a perfect fit, and there's plenty of room! I have a violin that is currently housed in a small hard shell case with barely enough room for a cloth and some rosin
5/5

I was getting tired of carrying my shoulder rest, music book, and case in separate bags. I've already invested in better strings, a better bow, a music stand, and several types of rosin to try out, so a new case will have to wait for a while. However, I was thrilled to discover that this was a suggested item while looking at cases with more storage for a future purchase. I just got it today and so far I'm really happy with it! Others have said it's a little big, and while that's true, I think that's a good thing. My shoulder rest (FOM brand, collapsible) fits perfectly with plenty of room to spare. This means that if I get any additional accessories, such as a small tuner/metronome, that won't fit in my case, I'll be able to store them in the pouch with my shoulder rest, which I like because it has a clip and strap on both ends. It is large enough to fit snugly along the side of my hard case without flopping around. It's perfectly balanced. So far, the quality appears to be excellent; however, I will provide an update if it fails at any point in the near future.

No more losing the shoulder rest; my daughter needed an extra hand, and this was the perfect solution; no more trying to fit the shoulder rest into her backpack or forgetting about it
5/5

It's now attached to the violin case with a strap.

It's a fantastic case, and it's a fantastic price! Because there was no place for the shoulder rest in my daughter's violin case, she had to carry it in her backpack
5/5

She left it at home one day, which meant she had to deliver it to the school! It also meant that a better solution had to be found. This case is ideal because it securely holds the shoulder rest and attaches to her bag. This book comes highly recommended.

This is an excellent clip

However, there is no padding on the pouch. This case is large enough to hold my son's Kun 1/2 - He can put some pencils inside the case and have a 3/4-size shoulder rest. For attaching it to the violin case, the carabiner/velcro system worked well. Various handle lengths are possible thanks to the velcro. Note that this is simply a case made from a backpack-style fabric with no padding. Additional padding in the form of neoprene would be nice. I looked for more padded cases elsewhere, but they were hard to come by in this size and with the dual attachment points. As a result, I strongly advise you to purchase this item.

It's ideal, and I'm glad I came across it

My son's shoulder rest is no longer misplaced in my home or car. For his 1/2 size violin, he just uses a regular shoulder rest, which works perfectly.
