Ok, so I've been playing the cello for more than 40 years (I started at the age of While I was a kid, I used old belts to hold my cello up, then I switched to straps, and then other devices to ensure I had a solid footing. Every now and then, I would encounter chairs with legs that were too wide for the ring that goes around the chair legs. These chairs would not work with the nice straps. Moreover, slipping on me is no longer an issue because I have developed a stronger physique. A polymer which is a component of the Black Hole will grab on to a variety of surfaces. This product did not disappoint as I just completed a number of Christmas gigs, from marble to tile to wood. The system remained stable and solid throughout the entire performance. With the help of warm water, you can easily rinse off the dirt and floor dust, and the material retains its tacky, gripping properties. I love it. I highly recommend this book.
We have tried other versions of rock stops, and this one is the ONLY one that does not slide. We purchased it on a recommendation from a cellist at the Nashville Symphony. There's no point in wasting your money on any other!.
In my experience, I've used three different types of endpin stops, and these are by far the most desirable Whatever surface you put it on, it will stay put. It was nice to have the strap cello stop that held the top of the endpin without moving, but this Dycem doesn't have the strap (which is also better when multiple cellists are using the instrument), and it's much easier to transport.
The cell phone of my 3 year old started ringing. Buying this product was recommended, and it has worked well so far. It has been a few months since my 3 year old used the cell phone and nothing is working. The product is perfectly made and of high quality.
I have only had it slip one time, and that was when the floor was very Whenever I want to slide it, I have to kind of unstick it from the ground with my endpin and then slide it. The fact that it's so small is an added bonus. I can put it in my pocket when I go Occasionally they get lost or misplaced, but they are not very important. The extra one I need to keep on hand is because my colleagues have a tendency to lose these and I'm only a matter of time before mine do too.
This product is unusable for the purpose for which I purchased it not just once, but twice Neither my cello nor my colleague's was attached to the cello body, so we had to improvise other means to keep our instruments from slipping during our performances.
This product is ideal for smooth hard surfaces, such as linoleum or hardwood. Having never used it on carpet, I cannot comment. Although for what I use it for, I find it one of the best cello stops I've encountered in the past 50 years.
