Yes, just like regular wood bows, this one can be rehaired. Given that the stick can theoretically last an eternity, routine maintenance and rehairing is recommended.
The black hair isn't dyed, to be sure. Only genuine horsehair is used. As a result, you might notice some brownish-colored hair on occasion. That is entirely reasonable.

I've been playing violins for a long time. I've used a lot of bows and this is the second best one I've ever used. (Though it isn't a fair comparison; after all, my best bow is a $400 Pernambuco bowbr>. )br>br> I have to admit that the price was what drew me to this bow in the first place. Because I want to save my Pernambuco bow for performances, I was looking for a daily practice bow. This onebr> appears to be reasonably priced, while the frog's design is a bitbr> unique in comparison to other options. So I decide to give it a shot, despite my reservations. br> br>br> The package arrived quickly; it wasn't particularly exciting, but it was adequate – bubble wrap and kraft paper. I like the look of them; they're exactly as they appear in the photos. Mattbr> comes to a close on a strong note. My favorite stick is the carbon fiber one, and the ebony parts appear to be of high quality. The frog is engraved, giving the bow a slightly different look than traditional bows. br>br> I've been playing the bow for about two months now. The weight is just right for me at 61 grams, not too heavy but not too light. I'm a petite girl, so heavy bows aren't for me. My friends and I took the bow to my symphony's practice and compared it to other bowsbr> that they were playing. When I played bouncingbr> strokes with the bow, the first impression I got was that it gave me an instant response. When I play Paganini's Moto Perpetuo, I notice it more, and for a brief moment, I believe my ability has improved. Of course, it isn't quite as good as my other Pernambuco bow, but it is the best of the bows in its price range. The proportions are also well-balanced. I didn't take a measurement of the balancing point, but it feels perfect. When I removed the bow from the package, there was a minor flaw. br> There are a few hairs that have broken. It just needs a little better packaging, I suppose. However, after a few months of playing, I didn't notice any unusual hair loss. br>br> To cut a long story short, this is an excellent practice bow. It keeps you from having to deal with wood bows. br> You get exactly what you expect, if not a little bit more.
