Questions & Answers

Will nitrocellulose be harmed as a result of this? guitars to be completed?

When someone says, "damage a nitro finish," there are two possibilities. Will it REACT with a nitro finish, is the most common question. br>I can't speak for this stand, but I haven't seen any marks when - directly- For a week or two, it was left on the stand. br>I don't recommend leaving any nitro finish guitar on any stand as a normal way to store it when not in use. EVER. br>The reason for this is that I've had a nitro finish react with a stand, which causes the foam and nitro to interact, resulting in a soft lumpy bump in the finish that makes contact with the foam. When you take it off, it will harden. The damage, however, has already been done. If you plan to leave the guitar out on a stand, place a hand towel across the base of the stand. I leave one or two guitars out on stands all the time because it's much easier to grab and play, but I've learned my lesson about any finish coming into contact with foam. Nitrogen in particular. br>In regards to the NECK REST section of the stand. That'll be covered as well. Whether it's nitro or poly, it'll leave a mark over time, so cover it with a small towel. Alternatively, you can do what I do and use the strap. br>These are EXTREMELY VALUE FOR MONEY stands. I have five of them, and I use them on guitars and basses ranging in price from $300 to $3,000. They're as tough as the design allows, but if you have a rowdy pet or small children, they're not for you. Take advantage of the situation. I have yet to see a stand that can withstand that.

I can't seem to get it to put together; do you have any instructions? The cradle is swaying and won't stay put, and there's no way to keep the neck in place. ?

The cradle was designed to be adaptable. If you turn it upside down, it will come out. The neck will be held securely in place by the thumbscrew. br>br>Instructions that should have come with the unit are as follows: br>br>1) Place neck unit in base unit and tighten thumbscrew on base unit until neck unit is snug. br>2) Fully extend the legs of the base unit. br>3) Place the cradle in front of you, prongs "higher." " Rotate the cradle 180 degrees to lower the prongs. br>4) Before using it for your instrument, make sure it's stable and level. br>br>I adore this display - I recently placed my third order.

I just received mine, and I'm wondering if there's a screw for the arms that support the guitar's bottom? It's possible for the arms to come undone. ?

There is a screw-on knob on the neck brace that allows it to be adjusted. The lower arms that support the instrument's bottom are held in place by a bolt of some sort that swivels on both sides but does not come off. I hope this information is useful to you.

Is there any padding on the bottom yoke, or is it all metal?

Yes, there is a good amount of dense foam padding on all parts of the guitar that come into contact with it (yolk and neck). To be honest, I don't believe there is a single metal guitar stand on the market that uses only bare metal for the guitar contact points - They weren't going to sell a lot of them.

The design is flimsy and terrible
3/5

The guitar is thrown away. Amazon no longer has complete control over customer feedback. They are fake by 90% percentage of them. I bought it based on the reviews and ended up being disappointed. This is a complete and total farce. The locking nut will loosen and twist, causing your guitar to fall to the floor. Second, the bottom support has no lock, and is designed to be extremely loose. Because it's allowed to freewheel, it'll shift without warning, twisting the top arm and slamming the guitar to the ground! There is no way to prevent this from happening by tightening the bottom section.

There's a problem here
3/5

The On Stage Classic Series XCG-II is something I'm familiar with. I have two that I've been using for a long time. br>The images on Amazon are from an On Stage Classics series called XCG-XCG-XCG-XCG-XCG-XCG-XCG-XCG-XCG-XCG 4 guitar stand, but something isn't quite right. br>Either the product I received was a knockoff or On Stage changed their XCG-based product. 4 is a bad number. br>br>As well as photos from reviewers. Others appear to have received a different item from Amazon than the one shown above. I'm not surprised that they're having problems, given the issues they've mentioned. This stand isn't as well-made as the XCG-XCG-XCG-XCG-XCG-XCG-XCG I am aware of the 4's. End caps are easily removed. The neck yoke band strap is a different size and not as firm as the rest of the band. The yoke on the back of the body is smaller. The Vee groove in the bottom tube allows for more play. To hold the top tube firmly, more space is created for the Tee handle screw to travel in. The T-handle knob is a smaller version of the T-handle knob. When everything is taken into account, it isn't as simple to use. br>br>On-line information was the best I could get. At this point, they had changed/modified the XCG- 4 Classic Stand. br>br>I'm not sure what those adjustments were. The silver label with the silver underline reading; br>br> On- I'm only looking at the first stage. br>br>Knowing what I know about the previous version of this stand, I would not recommend it.

Guitar stands are usually very good and inexpensive, but used ones should be avoided if possible
3/5

Check to see if it's leaning back. After months of planning and preparation, I finally got around to putting a guitar on this stand (my kids took the guitar to school and kept it there - When their guitar unit ended, I just got it back). I bought it on Amazon as a "very good condition" used purchase to save a few bucks, but I made a mistake. It's all messed up- It appears to be in good condition, but there is a significant flaw in it. The upright part is almost perfectly vertical, and the bottom holder bars practically tilt downwards, so if I put my guitar all the way in, it will fall out. Either it was manufactured incorrectly, or whoever returned it (most likely) stepped on the front legs, or something, because the upright part is almost perfectly vertical, and the bottom holder bars practically tilt downwards, which means if I put my guitar all the way in, it will fall out. I've now added another guitar, but I had to angle it in. There is no way to secure the top strap. either in the neck or in the back of the neck I wasn't paying attention at all. I also tossed the box in which it was delivered. Amazon might still accept it, but I'd have to find a big enough box, pay for shipping, and so on. Pita. I'll see what I can do to get it back into usable shape. Fwiw, I own four more of these, all of which I purchased brand new, and they're all fine; I had previously given this item five stars, which a brand new one, properly manufactured, would deserve. By the way, a common rookie error is that the legs must be locked in place. If you don't use enough force, the stand will lean incorrectly and become unstable, so if you have one and are having problems, first make sure the legs are clicked-in. throughout the entire process Just make sure you don't squash it!.

There are no set rules
3/5

My guitars have spent countless hours (often all day every day, weather/humidity permitting) on them, and they don't leave marks on nitrocellulose lacquer. I'm happy with how things have turned out. They're reasonably priced, simple to assemble, and relatively stable (though they could be better-- They're still a little shaky). br>br>Because I have a complaint, I have re-written this review. These aren't standardized in any way. I've got five (!) ) of these stands, each with its own set of components. The part that runs across the top to keep the neck in place appears to change a lot. It was a good one on my first stand. My second stand was in a less-than-ideal location. It was a good one that went wrong. My three new ones have the same good one as my first, a slightly less good one than my second, and a completely different one that is extremely difficult to pull across and attach (and will almost certainly break). br>br>This does not sit well with me. Please standardize your product; I want all of them to be as good as my first, not as bad as my broken one, and I don't want the new ones I just bought to break. It's such a pity. Apart from the fact that they make you slightly tipsy, these are fantastic. I went from a 5-star rating to a 4-star rating. The star rating has been reduced to three stars.

For short-term use, this is an excellent product
5/5

For protection, I prefer to use a hard case. The stand is strong and easy to put together. For portability, the legs fold up. This is my THIRD time supporting this company and its products. The matte black finish, rubber feet, and padded support bars at the base and top for the neck protect both your guitar and the floor (with the exceptions listed below). br>My only concern (which applies to all similar stands with protective pads) is the chemical interaction with the guitar finish while it is resting on them. The pads appear to be made of the same material as Snark tuners, which, according to their warning label, will damage the finish of many guitars. Unless the padding material is deemed safe for guitar finishes, I would not leave expensive guitars on ANY stand for an extended period of time until this issue is resolved.

Does exactly what it's supposed to do
5/5

This is a good product for the price; it's nothing fancy, just a solid stand, and I'd recommend it to anyone looking for a simple stand.
