Questions & Answers

This appears to be a listing for a 4-string Fender jazz bass, which is normally 1-string. 1/2" in width 1-, according to the information above. 3/4". ?

The nut width of a vintage jazz bass is 1 1/2 inches, 1 5/8 inches for newer jazz basses, and 1 3/4 inches for precision basses.

Please double-check if the width is 1 3/4 inch. I purchased a different one, which reads as follows: 1 3/4 inch x 4 inch x 1 3/4 inch x 1 3/4 inch x It's 45cm on the outside, but it's only 1 5/8 x 4 on the inside. 13cm?

Hello,br>At Neal's Music, we have a 1 3/4 width. On ours, the part number is 0994921000, which is different. To be sure, you can call Fender and ask if this part number is compatible with your bass.

Is the length of this nut 1 3/4" or 45 millimeters?

This is number one. Jazz Bass is 45" in length. The definition of a Precision Bass is 1. 62”. Or 36. Jazz is shot in 8mm, and 41 is shot in 41mm. 1 millimeter for the P Bass

Selected User Reviews For Fender Pre-Slotted Micarta Jazz Bass String Nut

I took precise measurements and filed the nut slots myself, and now my bass feels better, plays better, and stays in tune! String spacing was perfect (all I had to do was deepen the slots, which you'll have to do with any nut because if it comes in too low, you're screwed, so they're made to come high so you can file them down with a nut file (or use the exact string that's going into the slot you're filing, wrap some 400-pound string around the slot you're filing)
5/5

For each string, I grit sandpaper as much as necessary around it, file a number of times, and repeat until you're comfortable with the action. I applied 3000 grit sandpaper to each string and blew all the paper out. ) Nut lubrication and proper sanding technique will ensure that the strings can freely move through the nut slots, keeping you in tune and allowing you to tune with greater precision, as well as helping the instrument maintain its intonation and feel good while playing. It's critical! Also, if you file your own nut slots, make sure to file at an angle slanting down from the fretboard towards the tuners, the same angle the string will follow when strung up and tuned up to pitch (see youtube videos on filing a nut for more info), because if you file flat, you'll get buzzing, tuning instability, and it won't feel right. Put some nut lube on the bridge saddles where the strings touch, and some under the little string trees by the tuners where the strings are held down low; any point of contact with a string should be lubed for maximum tuning stability.

I like the action more because of how I like it
5/5

I wish it had been Bone instead of Micarta (synthetic), but you get two. br>It only took a little sanding off the bottom to make it flush with the neck, and a little sanding off the ends to make it flush with the neck, more for the way I like the action than normal. The factory nut groove is the perfect thickness.

The original Fender part is in perfect working order
5/5

I was looking for something specific, and this was it. The nut on my jazz bass broke after I changed the strings. It's as good as new now that I've put this in. It's extremely useful to know that the original Fender part will fit perfectly.

Nice nut
5/5

They do an excellent job of notching the nut and only require minor filing. It really works.

Jazz bass is not precut
4/5

They could have made these to fit a Fender jazz bass instead. Both the width and the height are excessive.
