These are even more scratched than the ones I'm trying to replace, and the paint job is dull. They appear to have seen better days. Set screws are included as well, which were not advertised. I'm not sure why set screws would be used on a spline shaft. The set screw holes are unsightly and unnecessary even without the scratches and faded paint job. If you want scratched-up knobs with un-scratched surfaces, this is the place to go. If you're looking for set screws, these are the ones to get.
The vertical sides of the domed tops round up to create a slight corner edge. The domes have a flat shape to them. I put them on a guitar that had a cheap plastic top. Knobs in the shape of a hat. It's a nice addition that complements the overall look. It's a Wonderful Life! br>br>Recent changes (03/12/2018): For my LP Custom "BUZZSAW," I ordered a second set. It's a Wonderful Life!.
For metal knurled knobs, they're less than $10. Sure, if I were paying $10 per piece, I'd be picky, but for $1, I'm not. They're fantastic for $75 a knob. The metal appears to be of high quality, and mine arrived in individual baggies. I set my expectations correctly for this price because there are no scratches, but it isn't perfect either. Looking at the inserts, I could see that the spline in the middle was not perfectly centered. This is the second time. management of expectations It costs less than ten dollars. These are a good deal, but if you have a $3000 guitar, don't try to save $30 on knobs and then complain about how they're not perfect. They're excellent for the purpose, and I thought the price I paid was extremely reasonable.
These knobs do not fit Fender Strat pots and do not look good. Because they're so small, I'm guessing they'd be better suited to bass EQ pots (like the 3-band EQ). Ibanez SDGR Basses have an EQ knob), but double-check before purchasing.
The only reason I gave 4 stars instead of 5 is because the top ''dome'' part was a little scruffed up (from the warehouse, I assume). Nothing to be upset about; in fact, it makes my guitar appear to be as well-played as it should be. ) A WORD OF CAUTIOUSNESS: They fit perfectly, but there's a catch: once you put them on, you can't take them off. I'm sure you could remove them, but you'd have to use tools and risk damaging the pots underneath. Just wanted to give you a heads up on something.
Excellent replacement for scratched/damaged items, color changes, or simply because you dislike the other types. Check the spline size before packing, but you can do so if necessary. br>br>Remember the following points: br> Due to the lack of a flange, the knob may not be as flush as other types. br> There isn't a dot or any numbers to indicate where you are. br> These knobs lack a grub screw to secure them to a solid shaft.
It's probably best to try a different brand; I purchased the black set of four. I was surprised to find no scratches because they came in a single small baggie. After that, I went ahead and installed them on a Yamaha TRBX. They fit well, and I like the way they feel and look, but one of the knobs was broken on the inside (the plastic had come loose). I only needed three knobs, so I installed the other three. Well, two of them were perfect, and if all four of them were like these two, I'd give them all five stars, but the last one has the plastic inside glued in crooked. When you turn it, there is a very slight wobble. It wouldn't be worth returning them, but if they were all perfect and I had an extra, that would be great.
I purchased these because I wanted a chrome dome knob that I could push on and off like a regular speed knob, and so on. These don't require a screwdriver or hex key on the side like most, and they perfectly fit my import Mockingbird archtop. ***UPDATE**** I also purchased a black version of the set. The ones that are black are drab! For those, I'm going to give it a two-star rating.
