Do you need an AC adapter to operate this footswitch?

For the footswitch I bought last year, I have never opened the box. To save myself time, I got it now just in case I wanted one later. It was pretty hard to find a new footswitch when I got an amp a few years ago. When I decided it was time to get a footswitch I couldn't find one online.
