Yes, it swivels, but I'm surprised that others have described it as sturdy. It was great for about a year of daily playing, including a few local club gigs, but now it's starting to fall apart. Upgraded to a Roc-style Roc-style Roc-style Roc-style Roc It is 100% better than Soc and it is 100% better than Soc and% (However, it is more expensive.) Rock N Soc or Pork Pie are two options if you need something that can withstand a beating. I'm kicking myself for wasting $50 on Mapex.

Selected User Reviews For Mapex Drum Throne (T270A)
I haven't had this throne for very long, but it appears to be adequate so far. There's nothing special about this; you have to remove a retaining bolt to adjust the height, but that's not a big deal if you don't need to. This is what I use at church, and it's a good fit for both me and the other drummer. Some people complain about the throne making noise and creaking sounds, but I haven't noticed any of that. I suppose it's more of an issue for studio drummers or people who just practice the drums at home or use the throne for other purposes. If you can hear creaking while drumming, you're probably playing too softly.
My previous throne had snapped in half due to the amount of time I had spent playing on it. It has a small amount of cushioning, so it's also suitable for short sets of about an hour. This throne is incredibly sturdy, and I intend to use it for many years. Unless, of course, I can afford one of those luxurious cushion covers.
I'm not a touring drummer, and when it comes to gear, I'm not too fussy. However, I want to feel at ease while playing and get a good deal. This Mapex drum throne is complete with all of the necessary markings. I can play for hours without getting tired of it, and the throne can be adjusted to several different heights by unscrewing a wing nut. This isn't a big deal to me because I don't have to adjust once I've reached the desired height (plus, I'm an old school drummer, and the thrones were the same way back then). First and foremost, the throne is well-built. The legs can also be adjusted, but keep in mind that the wider your legs are, the more stable the chair will be. If you make them too thin, you'll probably fall over. Then there's the matter of the price. You've come to the right place if you're looking for a simple throne that gets the job done.
It's good value for the money, but it's a bit noisy and awkward to adjust. I bought this to use in home recording while practicing guitar and playing a small electronic drum kit and keyboard, and I'm happy with the quality, comfort, and light weight. It serves my needs well, and I find myself employing it more frequently than I anticipated. It's been used at my work table and when I have visitors in my small home office. br>br>Full disclosure: I'm 6- I'm 5'1", 205 pounds, and my jeans have a regular size "rhythm section" in the back. Advantages: br>br> br>comfortable for 30-minutesbr>lightweight and sturdy (for a portable unit)br> 60 minute sessionsbr> for people weighing up to 210 poundsbr> can be collapsed for transport or storagebr>br>Cons: surprisingly loud (from the wood support in the seat bottom, squeaks, creaks, and oinks)br> clumsy height adjustment with non-adjustable footrest The nut, washer, and captive screw are all included in the kit. (parts fly when fumbling in a hurry)br>cannot be adjusted higher than "squatting" height (won't fit a standard height "work bench").
If that means anything to you, this throne has given me an additional 10 minutes of relief. It means a great deal to me: br>br>.
This is nice for a 185 pound guy like me who plays guitar but prefers to practice at home on the drum throne. We recently had our hardwood floor sanded and were curious about the rubber feet. It isn't the low-cost rubber that marks the floor. It has a solid feel to it.
So far, so good; a little sloppiness with the screws and bolts, but overall, very comfortable for a couple of hours of use, sturdy, steady, attractive, and appears to be very durable. I can't complain for the price I paid; I'm not a professional drummer, but for someone who plans on using this throne for a few hours at a time a few times a week, I couldn't find a more reasonably priced option that didn't feel or look cheap.
This is for our drummer, who is seven years old. His review can be found here. It's simple to set up and adjust, and it's still comfortable after a few hours of use. It doesn't wobble when shifting positions while playing (which was a problem with the previous drum throne). Given the description, this was exactly what I expected. Excellent value for money!.
