Questions & Answers

I'm assuming this is compatible with DW hardware?

Yes, on a few points. They do not work, however, on the DW 6000 series flush base cymbal stands for some reason. They are compatible with the DW SM770 bass drum mounted cymbal holder as well as their tripod style stands.

Is this compatible with the M8 1? Is the part that connects with/grips the bolt metal, and is it a 25 (coarse thread) bolt?

I'm not sure if it'll work with the M8 1. It's all plastic, as far as I can tell. Best of luck to you.

Is this compatible with other stands or hardware, such as the Pearl or the Gibraltar?

They work with any brand of cymbal holder, but not all sizes. The cymbal holder (the part with the threading) on my old Tama stand from the 1980s is too small. They should, however, fit most modern stands; they do on my PDP and Yamaha stands.

How big is this wing nut's thread pitch? I need a quick release wing nut that is 1/4"x20 tpi. ?

Hello,br> The TPI has no bearing on the diameter of the cymbal stand stud in the threaded area. br>I have two different sizes of stands: Diameters = and Diameters =. 310 and . The threaded area has a capacity of 250. br>The Tama Quick sets can be used for both. br>I've had the Quicks for more than a year. They perform admirably.br> The only drawback is that they are difficult to find if dropped on a dark stage.
Ha. br>Let's get this party started.

Approximately half of them performed admirably during extended play sessions
3/5

To begin with, this product was delivered on time, but one of the three packages was taped shut, which was unsatisfactory for a new product. My Past br>br> The Product(s) Have Been Used Before: br>I've been a drummer for about 20 years; I'm not a hard-hitting, stick-splintering musician by any means, but I'm not afraid to give the cymbals some extra oomph when the situation calls for it. In addition, I've used a lot of percussion accessories over the years, and only a few have enticed me to write a review on them because the majority of them are straightforward, well-made, and do exactly what they claim to do. As a result, I recently purchased 12 TAMA QC8B4 Quick-Connect connectors. Set of three Cymbal Mates (3 packs of four) for all of my Tama Acoustic Drum Kit cymbals. To be honest, I've always been a Tama fan; in fact, I own their newest double bass iron cobra power glide pedal, as well as a slew of other Tama products. These Cymbal Mates, on the other hand, are what you're looking for. dissatisfying Only half of the felt spacers/etc/etc appear to work as advertised during initial setup, even after double-checking the installation with product videos. Worse yet, over long periods of time, as was the case at a recent show, most begin to fail in one way or another. The most common problem I've encountered is that the cymbal mates shimmy their way up the threads of the stand, eventually popping off and rolling across the floor. Unfortunately, at our recent show, I felt I had to constantly check to make sure each cymbal mate was secured where I had originally installed them, which was a bit of a pain. were not. In reality, I believe the shimmying problem stems from the plastic internal locking threads vibrating and releasing open with each hit, as well as the weak spring locking mechanism itself. As previously stated, half of the options appear to be viable. Okay, but my expectations for these were higher. I bought them for gigs at first, but after two of them fell off during a performance, I realized I needed to go back to the original hardware, at least for gigs. which, once more. is unsatisfactory and undermines the purpose of the purchase br>br>After failing to trigger the cymbals on my Tama Acoustic Drum Set, I decided to try them on my Alesis Digital Drum Kit for fun because it has similar threads to my acoustic stands and requires much less striking force to trigger the cymbals. Unfortunately, it turned out to be just as bad, if not even worse. Finally, I'm letting one of my friends (who primarily plays light jazz) use some of my Cymbal Mates on his Pearl kit, and he's had the same shimmying issues on his stands. br>br>Conclusion: br>br> br>The cymbal mates are a great concept in theory, and I'm sure they'd work if they had a metal internal thread and a stronger spring locking mechanism. These products, on the other hand, proved unreliable for this 20-year drummer. Initially, I assumed the package containing the tape contained faulty cymbal mates, but more than four cymbal mates were defective, so I don't believe this is the case. As a result, if you're thinking about buying this item, keep this in mind. They work on Tama stands, Pearl stands, and Alesis stands, but they don't work well on Alesis stands. As a result, I'm only giving these products two stars because I can't trust them to do what I paid for. As a Tama fan, this is infuriating. The theory, as well as the solid construction, are both present. isn't. br>br>I hope this review has been of assistance. br>br>PS: If you're looking for a unique way to express yourself, try using the words "cre Tama, if you could make these with internal metal threads and a more powerful spring mechanism, they'd be perfect.

They are ineffective
3/5

The design is fantastic, the setup is simple, and they are reasonably priced for the services they provide. The only issue is that they don't last more than a couple of cymbal wash hits. I don't strike hard or use heavy sticks, but I also don't choke my cymbals on the stands. After they flew off on the first test run, I made sure to tighten them even more than the wingnut, and they still flew off (albeit with less oscillation than before). Maybe I got a bad batch, but only one of the four stayed on, and it appears that the grip would most likely strip both the cymbal arm and the clamp, necessitating the replacement of both in the long run. The product has a great design and a great concept, but it lacks functionality. I've seen better clamps from other companies that could withstand any level of aggressive cymbal movement, but I chose this one due to its aesthetics and low price. It was an oversight on my part.

There were no problems at all
5/5

I'm curious as to why so many people have complained about these flying away. I've got them on three different drum sets, as well as five different kinds of stands. Yamaha, Tama, Gibraltar, Crush, and CDP are some of the companies that make guitars. Depending on the type of venue - I frequently swap cymbals around the sets as the drums are retuned and there are gigs. Various cymbals, as well as set-up and tear-down. I haven't had this problem in the last five years. Perhaps our playing styles are vastly different, but they are simple, easy to use, allow for quick changes, and don't detract from the drums' aesthetics. I would recommend these as wing nut replacements and keep a few spares on hand, not because they are likely to break or disappear, but because I can lay them down and walk away. Duh!.

I tried these, the Dixon EZ Cymbal Quick Release, and the DW QR wing nuts, and these were my favorite and also the cheapest of the three
4/5

The DW looks nicer and the integrated felt is really nice, but they require threads all the way to the end of the stand, which my hardware doesn't have. br>The only reason I deducted a star was that if you really wail on your cymbals and have these things set pretty tight, they may bump It's probably worth mentioning that I'm using these with Roland electronic cymbals (these are M8 and aren't compatible with stock M6 Roland arms - see below). I had to change arms), which have a metal rotation stopper instead of a bottom felt, so I think you could get away with tightening them up on an acoustic cymbal without slipping.

long-lasting and handy I've read a lot of complaints about these popping off when hitting cymbals, but that has never happened to me
5/5

Maybe their threads are just damaged, because I'm a heavy hitter who breaks cymbals more often than I should, and these things outlast the cymbals. I've been using them for years and have never had one fail on me; one is even installed upside down on the boom stand and hasn't failed. wonderful item.

I bought these to save time at the practice space ee er ee er ee er ee er ee er ee er ee er ee er ee er ee er ee er ee I was looking for Plow, so I took it one at a time. And play! So I went ahead and gave it a shot. It was like popcorn popping, and these things flew like wing nuts with wings! We eventually tracked them down and returned them to their original packaging. If your cymbal stands are bulky or heavy, it might work, but mine aren't. It didn't help to turn them inside out or use thread tape. I'm going to double up and put them on two at a time to see if that works.

It works perfectly! I ordered a few of these for Christmas and received them
5/5

They're great, and I'd recommend them over the screw-on brass or whatever wing nut hardware. Particularly if you frequently switch symbols. I only had one pop off, but that was due to the fact that the felt on the pen was too thick.

Setup and dismantling are quick and simple
5/5

To unscrew a cymbal nut, it takes only a few seconds. However, patience is required. These, on the other hand, are not the case. It's on with just a squeeze. It comes off with a squeeze. Because it's threaded on the inside, you can make the same adjustments as you would with a standard screwdriver. Are they worth the money spent on nuts? Probably not. But why not treat yourself to a small luxury and spend $20 on yourself?.
