7mm is equal to 1/2 inch. There are sleaves for ten people included in the package. 5 and 9. I tried to use 5mm but couldn't get them to work. 3/8" hex rod also works, and I use it on my two main rack toms because I already had them, and the drums slide off and on more easily than the 12. 7mm rods, similar to what I use on my floor toms. These brackets are fantastic; the only drawback is the lack of so-called memory locks; they provide height memory but not rotational memory, which is a bummer, but I can live with it. I even told Ludwig about it, but they seemed unconcerned.
If you're wondering if the item will provide tension for both the top and bottom heads, the answer is no. It will only provide tension for one of them (though I can't imagine it being used as a bottom lug). Because the tom's weight may cause the shell to crack, I recommend purchasing a standard replacement lug in addition to this item to replace the double ended lug. It's possible that you'll need to drill new holes.

I'm not sure, but I'd take a chance and buy it because it's a Ludwig product paired with another Ludwig product; however, I'll let you know that this mount DID NOT fit the drum I was trying to mount. The drum is a Pork Pie Little Squealer tom with a diameter of 10" and a depth of 8". The mount couldn't fit in that tom's hole because it was too small.

br> I chose the Atlas Single Mount Bracket, which replaces one of the lug brackets on the tom shell and clamps onto a cymbal stand; I have the same setup on three other Ludwig drum sets and love it. It's very simple and quick to attach to the tom shell, then simply attach the clamp to a cymbal stand, allowing you to position the tom exactly where you want it. It's just a matter of placing the tom on the l-bracket once the clamp is securely tightened where you want it. Adjust the position and angle of the tom by tightening the rod that came with the mounting bracket. Because of the ball and socket style of the clamp, the bracket has an infinite amount of flexibility, and I've never had a problem with it slipping or moving once it's tightened. I would strongly advise any drummer who wants to get rid of their bass drum shell tom mounts to get these. They're fantastic!.
To begin with, it appears to be a well-built (but heavy) mount that LOOKS like an engineering marvel until you connect it and UGHHHHH! My Tama Superstar custom maple 12" tom sounded as if it had been knocked out by a doornail. I tried loosening the mounting bolts as recommended by the manufacturer, but no luck. When I reinstalled the original Tama tom suspension, all of the resonance and sustain were restored. In my opinion, there is no better way to mount a tom than with RIMS style mounts. Particularly if you prefer your toms to have a nice wide open tone. Please accept my apologies, Ludwig, and I wish you luck the next time!.
This product has a very clever design and rock solid stability. I used it to replace one of the lugs on my 1965 Ludwig 9/13 tom and to attach the drum to the kick drum using the new Ludwig Arch Rail Mount. This is a fantastic system with a lot of flexibility. The lug bolt on this mount fits into the receptacle smoothly and securely. For mounting a drum without the need for drilling, this product is highly recommended.
The drum was severely choked. wow . Wow is all I have to say. My 12 inch Catalina club tom's'suspension' mounts were a disaster. The drum was severely choked. It's now singing as if it were a canary. br>I can't stress enough how good of a deal this was.
I'm attempting to apply this brilliant concept to a vintage Ludwig drum set I bought in 1965. It's adaptable, but the plastic pieces that allow mount sizes to adapt to one another need to be easier to come by or improved. Also, between the older bassdrum mount rods and the new part, there is no standard size of mount hole and rod, so I'm on a never-ending (and somewhat expensive) quest to solve my problem. My new double mount, one-inch rod does the job, but it adds a lot of weight and bulk to my kit. For a younger person, I suppose this isn't an issue, but Anyway, I understand that purchasing a modern kit is a viable option; however, mine is fine, performs admirably, and I intend to keep using it. I'd like to come up with a reasonable solution, so I'll keep working on it.
My Pork Pie Litte Squealer Tom can't use it. This mount, on the other hand, may come in handy later in my drumming career, so I'll keep it.
It also came with gaskets, a memory lock, and two shims, allowing it to fit a total of nine people. 5mm, 10. 5 mm or 12 mm Rods with a diameter of 7mm are known as "L" rods.
