There's no need to worry about the cymbal stacker being too heavy, but neither is it cheap and flimsy. It does not contain a lock nut on the bottom, but I don't really have a problem with this since it attaches to the bottom of a stand rather than a nut. I'm a light handed, very quiet drummer, which means that the knurled grip lets you tighten securely by hand. So far, they haven't unscrewed themselves from my playing, but I'm also somewhat light handed and I play on low volume. This is the best I've ever tried, and I would recommend it to anyone.
This stacker is great! Then, you might have to buy a wide washer with a 5/16-inch opening to fit right under this stacker and press down on the felt below to hold the cymbal snugly in place. The ones I am using on my electric set cause a little triggering of the cymbals below, but I adjusted the sensitivity and most of the issues have been solved. I love these things!.
Exactly what I had hoped for.
The only catch is that you need to stack a smaller cymbal like an 8/14 inch cymbal, or it'll be hard to randomly hit the right cymbal, rather than spending 20 dollars on a dedicated stand.
The most amazing thing for people with many cymbals is to hear them all ring together. Multiple stands aren't required, saving you the trouble of purchasing them. A smaller cymbal placed over a larger one provides good support. I believe there is enough clearance to place a splash over a ride, however, if a splash is placed over a crash, I believe a lot more people will be traumatized by accidents.
It is useful to have these things on hand. My least favorite methods are stacking cymbals inverted and inverting cymbals. The stands are nice because I am able to use all my cymbals without dealing with their clutter.
The measurement should be 4 inches, not 5!.
There is enough room for any type of cymbal, without having to buy a standard cymbal stand. I've been using it for weeks and it's going strong!.
