As a counter-point, I felt compelled to write a review. draw attention to the one negative review As you can see in the photo, these are MB1H mallets. Because the size isn't mentioned in the description, it's possible that the other reviewer mistook it for something else. This is the type of mallet that our high school uses. The nature of marching band (they occasionally play rim-shot) is that they take a lot of abuse and eventually crack. shots from the rim's metal portion). These are not concert bass drum mallets, but they are used by my son, who marches bass 1 in a field band.
Since 1999, I've been involved with marching percussion. Over the years, I've experimented with a variety of mallets. These are, without a doubt, the best mallets available. Perfect for the task at hand.

These were purchased for my son, a bass drummer. All of our drumsticks come from Vic Firth.
For a 20" Turkish goatskin drum, I bought these to replace the traditional wooden beater. They work well and, because of their rounded shape, I believe they will be easier on the drum head.
Amazingness.
