Yes, it does, according to me. My small tenor trombone works with the setup and my french horn also works. Mellowphones might be able to use it.

There are so many reviews of horn practice mutes that are negative from people who do not like them. practice mute isn't for everyone, and it definitely isn't for horns. Until there is a mute that feels exactly the same as the open horn, you should forget about playing with it at really low levels. It was purchased to use as I use this mute more as a device to block sound during practice than providing mute effect. It is quite effective at this purpose. There is a caveat, though, in that the foam will eventually dry out, but can easily be replaced with cork as soon as it does.
For those who need a bit of privacy when using their big brass, this is an excellent product.
