Some parts of the cork on my 33 year old Stonelined straight mute had broken off

I thought getting a new sound might be better than replacing the cork. Due to very hard cork on the new mute, I decided that my old mute, which had some missing panels of cork, would have been a better choice and returned the new one. Although I may be the only one thinking this, I would imagine the cork is meant to compress a little to allow the mutes to lock in place firmly on When a mute falls out during a performance, who wants to worry about that? A second thing I noticed was that the cork on the new mute was far darker in color than the cork on my old mute, which seemed odd to me.

Designed with apartment living in mind

My apartment complex has a very loud noise, which made me worry about my trombone sound. Just recently I started playing the trombone. Since it is lightweight and does not change the balance of the instrument, the mute manages to adequately muffle the sound without altering its balance.

In my first purchase I think I bought a Humes & Co. In 1952, I bought a Berg straight mute for my Rocket Cornet, and it is still in my hands. This version has been tested over time, and I now play trombone, so I know it will work just as well as the original.

An excellent value for the money

The only mute I have tried that doesn't distort the tone of specific notes, although it doesn't reduce volume as much as other mutes. It gets four stars instead of five points because it's so large and the build quality is average.

I'm shouting for the mutes! He plays the trombone and specializes in jazz he teaches and belongs to a small orchestra at our listed this one on his Christmas list since he lent out his other one, so I got it for him and it was just like the other one except he owned it now
