I thought getting a new sound might be better than replacing the cork. Due to very hard cork on the new mute, I decided that my old mute, which had some missing panels of cork, would have been a better choice and returned the new one. Although I may be the only one thinking this, I would imagine the cork is meant to compress a little to allow the mutes to lock in place firmly on When a mute falls out during a performance, who wants to worry about that? The only mute I have tried that doesn't distort the tone of specific notes, although it doesn't reduce volume as much as other mutes. It gets four stars instead of five points because it's so large and the build quality is average.
I like the muted sound.
The cost is high, and I'm concerned it might rise at any time.
