Questions & Answers

Is this trombone compatible with a C valve?

A C valve trombone is something I'm not familiar with. br>I'm not sure if a traditional valve trombone will work in this situation. br>The bell section would be fine, but you'd have to fill in the gaps where the Velcro strap goes over the bell and neckpipe section with rags because it's designed to hold a bass bone. br>The slide compartment is in the upper half of the case, with a bottom-hinged door. It's unlikely that it could be modified to accommodate a valve section instead of a standard slide. It's for a Jupiter XO that I'm using it for. An axial valve is used on the 547. To prevent movement, I draped a rag over the horn where the strap rests and tucked the extra rag between the neckpipe and the case's bottom. br>I hope that this information is useful.

Is it possible to fit a standard UMI trombone stand into the side pocket?

I can't comment on the UMI, but I've had this bag for a few years and the K is still going strong. The M stand, as well as the tuner and glasses case, fit perfectly. Water, a pouch for the mouthpiece, and so on.

Is this a vinyl-covered hard case similar to the skb? Is there a skeleton in there?

It's a blank canvas, after all. Covered in a hard-vinyl felt-covered shell, similar to other china cases, but the majority of them are made of styrofoam - shells that have been covered

How long is the slide compartment and how wide is the bell side compartment where the f attachment would go?

The bell can accommodate a 9. The slide compartment is about 31 inches long, which would fit a standard Bach, Getzen/Edwards bass slide. Bell is 5 inches long. I wouldn't try to get a ten if I could help it. This case holds a 5 inch bell.

The perfect fit
5/5

My original Bach bass trombone case from the 1960s was in pretty bad shape, so I went out and bought this one. I initially bought the tenor with F attachment case, oblivious to the fact that a bass case was also available. I was able to fit my Bach 50B in there, but it was a tight squeeze. Then I did some more searching and came across this Bass Trombone case from the same manufacturer, which I ordered and compared. The larger case was required for my needs. It's only been a week since I got it. So far, I'm really enjoying it. It's about the same weight as my old wooden case, but it's a lot bigger. This is made easier by the fact that there are two different types of carrying straps. Even so, as a 70-year-old female player, I found it cumbersome, so I bought a hand truck to strap it to for transportation, and the combination appears to work well. The only way to find out is to wait.

This is a hit with my son! My son has a tenor trombone and rents a bass trombone from his high school
5/5

The rental case was in bad shape and was significantly heavier than his tenor trombone case. This case is one of his favorites! It's very light, and it's relieved him of the burden of lugging so much gear back and forth for marching band in high school (it's a lot!). On football and band competition days, he still has to carry his school backpack, a 1/2 gallon water jug for band, and his uniform box, so the versatility of carrying or wearing it as a backpack or slung over his shoulder is fantastic. I would strongly suggest it.

Fits 10" bell bass trombones with a large throat and is a great value
4/5

Because of what I read on the Q&A about this case for my Besson 943GS bass trombone, I was hesitant to purchase it. Based on the experiences of others, A believes that larger bells would not fit well. But, at this price, what could possibly go wrong with the company's claim that the case fits? I followed my instincts and believed Protec's claims. br>br>They were correct. My bass bone bell section is a perfect fit for me! br>br>There are two large compartments for oils and lubricants, as well as a mouthpiece pouch and a G tuning slide for the second valve. I find the attached backpack straps to be extremely useful. The outside pocket can hold a trombone stand, and the filled Protec case isn't much heavier than the empty case! Oh, and it has a slide rod in it! br>br> br>br>So far, my only concern is the slide compartment, which has too long straps to keep it in place. Even when they're as tight as I can make them, there's still some vertical movement. (Because the slide is wide and long enough to cover the spans, side to side and lengthwise aren't as much of a problem. ) ) It's possible that a quick fix is on its way. As I've only recently received it, I can't comment on its sturdiness or durability. br>br>Be aware that dependent axial flow valve sections, as well as possibly others, will not fit in this case. Nonetheless, I would recommend the Protec Max case to anyone looking for a good, if not great, bass trombone case at a great price.

Fits Edwards Independent Thayer Bass or Holton 180 but not Edwards Independent Thayer Bass
3/5

Just to be clear, this is the first Protec bass trombone case that did not fit either my Edwards Dependent Thayer Valve Bass Trombone or my 50-year-old Holton 180. This has been brought to the company's attention, and it is hoped that it will be addressed in the near future. br>However, the case is extremely light and appears to be quite durable. If it fits your bass trombone, it's a true game changer.

It appears to be light in weight but strong in construction
4/5

It appears to be light in weight but strong in construction. It's for my Jupiter XO 1236, and I'm using it right now. Axial valve 547 tenor with F. The axial valve and linkage are easily accommodated by the case. br>Lots of storage space for mouthpieces and lube in the interior compartment. The velcro straps are one disadvantage. To prevent the slide strap from bowing inwards, I make sure it is not fastened. A different method of securing would be preferable to me. Also, the receiver end of the slide is at the bell end of the case, which I prefer. br>I keep a clean cotton rag between the bell section and the velcro straps to save space, and I have Holton 181 with the finish under the strap contact area rubbed off. br>The outside storage pocket is roomy, but I wouldn't store anything heavy there.

Great for a 7th grader who plays bass trombone every day on his way to and from school
5/5

My 7th grader, who has to walk to the bus, then take a crowded school bus every day with his bass trombone, finds this method to be effective. Much better than the hard, heavy case that came with his used bass trombone. Because he already has a backpack with his lunch and binder, he chooses to use the strap rather than the backpack.

Strong and reliable This is a fantastic case
5/5

It gives my King 6-year-old son excellent protection. B Duo Gravis Bass Trombone, but it's not as heavy as an old-fashioned bass trombone. would be an old-fashioned wooden case. br>br>The two carrying strap options (over the shoulder or backpack style) are extremely convenient.
