Questions & Answers

The trombone slide is held in place in a variety of ways. Is it velcro or some other type of fastener?

On one end, the bottom of the slide hooks over a padded section, while on the other, the bell connection fits up to keep the slide in place. I didn't like the padded cover that velcros over it because it looks too short when closed. I'm always worried that the slide will scratch my bell, so I fold a hand towel and place it over the bell section. My slide will also be more secure as a result of this. The bell part was custom-molded to fit my bell perfectly.

I just bought this and I'm not sure how the trombone bell is secured inside. ?

It was necessary for us to return it. It wouldn't fit my son's Bach 42BO inside.

Is there enough room for a bass trombone in this case?

Although I don't have a bass trombone to test, the bell should fit (diameter: 10 inches). The clearance for the lower part of the bell section, on the other hand, might not be sufficient. When a tenor trombone is used to close the case, there isn't much room.

How does this work with a Yamaha tenor trombone student? We tried, but the middle piece appeared to be obstructing the process?

Hello, Lucy; as it happens, I use a case for a Yamaha 3530R tenor trombone, which is very similar to the YSL 354 Yamaha tenor you have; Mine is about the same size as yours, and the middle foam piece on the bell side isn't an issue. It does, however, aid in the stabilization of the bell section. However, there were two issues I had to deal with in that case: (1) On the slide side, at the end of the slide section, there is a foam block that fits into the bell - (2) The shoulder strap clips that fit at the neck level when worn backpack style kept falling out, so I had to cut a notch to fit my slide. To connect the two pieces, I used a carabiner ring. Aside from that, the case has been satisfactory. You might want to take a look at the Kayces KBF- TM1; It has an end strap that makes pulling the case off a shelf or out of a vehicle much easier.

Trigger attachments are not permitted on the trombone case
4/5

I purchased this case in the hopes of using it with my Bach Strat with attachment. There's no way! It's designed to be used with a trombone that doesn't have a trigger. When I tried to put it in the case, I discovered that the foam could not be moved. Inside, the slide's support is much better than I had anticipated. If you want to take your stand, music, and mutes with you when you use this case, you'll need another bag. I like how light it is and how many different handle options there are, but it is still strong enough to protect me. It would be ideal for a student or for performing at small events. I hope this has been of assistance.
