Everything was fine until the temperature reached 192° during the stall and afterward. At that point, the temperature began to drop. A second thermometer confirmed that the temperature had reached 200°, as expected. Both probes read fine on a different sending unit, indicating that the sending unit was the problem. However, there is some good news. The level of service provided to customers is exceptional. I received a replacement right away, with no questions asked. br>The thermometer has a nice appearance and isn't too delicate. Each unit is powered by two AAA batteries that can be easily replaced. It will fit perfectly in any of the ThermoPro 20 cases. The back of the sending unit's wire support is easily reversible, allowing it to be hung from a nearby handle rather than standing upright on a flat surface. The receiving unit is equipped with two rare earth magnets on the back, allowing it to be mounted vertically on a metal surface. It also has a flip-out stand. br>With the exception of the first unit's failure, I am completely satisfied with this thermometer.
I didn't think a remote thermometer was worth the (ostensibly) extra trouble, but I was mistaken. It's great to be able to stay with your guests while keeping an eye on the meat without having to constantly walk out to the grill. I've used this bbq thermometer a couple of times now and it's great. Both the base unit and the remote unit were pre-programmed. There are no issues because they are in sync with one another. The two probes, each with its own set of settings, allow you to keep track of two different pieces of meat, or one meat and the grill's ambient temperature, if desired. (However, only one of the probes is required for operation. ) ) The base thermometer remembers your last setting, so you don't have to reset it every time you use it (as I did the other day). Setting the desired temperature, on the other hand, is a fairly straightforward and straightforward process. You didn't have to look any further because this one is fantastic.
We recently purchased a pellet smoker and a cheap meat thermometer from Walmart; however, getting an accurate reading was difficult due to the fact that we had to open the lid and find a good spot to poke the meat, allowing all of the smoke to escape. This device is incredible. We poke the meat before putting it in the smoker, and we can read the temperature the entire time! There are two temperature probes, so we can cook multiple things at the same time. Also, I appreciate that we have a wireless monitor because we live in Wisconsin, so the less time we spend outside in the winter, the better!.
This was something I bought on the spur of the moment. I live with my girlfriend, so this allows me to probe two pieces of meat at the same time to ensure that they are both cooked properly. br>br>Secondary Benefitsbr>1. It appears to be close to the mark. It's approximately 1 pound. It's only 2 degrees (F) off from my standalone probe, which isn't bad enough to complain about.
2. It's quite effective. I've used it for Thanksgiving, Christmas, and a couple of steaks, and it's always worked fine, even when only one probe is inserted (the other simply displays LLLLL on the screen).
3. The probes are a good size for the job. On Christmas, I was able to get most of a 12 pound ham to the center.
4. It's simple to work with. Some people may require assistance at first, but once you've gotten used to it, it's fairly simple.
5. The backlit screen has large numbers that are easy to read. 1. Neutralbr>br>br>br>br>br>br>br>br>br>br>br> More color options would have been nice, but that isn't really a con, just a personal preference.
2. Both have a small wire clip mechanism, which worries me in the long run but isn't an issue right now. Consbr>1. br>br>Consbr>1. br>br>Consbr>Consbr>Consbr When you plug the probes in, there is no easy way to tell which one is which. All you have to do is plug one in and see what temperature it displays, then remember it. br>br>I'm satisfied with my purchase overall. My steaks came out medium rare, as expected, and I had no problems; I simply overcooked the meat by about 3-degrees to compensate for the temperature difference. It doesn't seem to mind if the temperature drops to 5 degrees F. As the old adage goes, it's always better to be safe than sorry. In any case, I would recommend it to others, but make sure you test it with a different temperature probe to ensure that yours is at least largely accurate. Mine is approximately 2098% accurate and for me that is good enough.
I sent an email to the manufacturer, asking if they could send me a replacement cover or if I needed to return to Amazon. Within a day, I received a response and was informed that they would send me another. I received a brand new unit in the mail a few days later. That was unexpected! The probe is extremely precise. br>br> I used boiling water to test it, and both probes consistently registered 214 degrees. The Bluetooth range on the receiver is also excellent. You can select from a variety of meat settings. Overall, for the price, it's a decent wireless meat thermometer.
The unit is well-made, and the grippy cover makes it easy to grip, even if your hands are a little oily from cooking. The dual temperature indication is fantastic, and the rack clip makes using one probe for temperature indication inside my smoker a breeze. The alarm feature is extremely useful, and I appreciate the fact that the sensor unit can be clipped to my grill. The communication range to the remote readout is excellent; it's the first one I've had that actually transmits all the way from the smoker to my living room. This comes in handy when we're entertaining guests. br>Getting the right setting on the right probe is a pain at first, but once you figure out the button pattern to use, the process becomes much easier. I wish the sensor unit's clip was as durable as the rest of the unit because I'm constantly putting the wire back into its base clips when I move it from one location to another. These are minor flaws in the grand scheme of things, and I would purchase it again.
